More Work Stuff!

As you may have noticed, I've had a bit of time on my hands!  I've been experimenting with different layouts and this particular theme still may not be my final choice.  It is a bit bright isn't it?

The reason I have the aforementioned time on my hands is that I'm not working at the moment.  I finished my last temp job on Friday.  It had originally been an eight-week assignment, but they literally didn't have enough work for me to do.

I was there to fill in for a woman who went on leave.   She was to instruct me on how to use the computer program that handled orders, etc (which was connected by internet to the head office in Sydney) before she left. The company was also in the midst of moving premises at the time.   Unfortunately, the internet wasn't connected until two weeks after the woman had gone on holiday.  By this time, the manager was too busy doing everything else to be able to show me how to do it (and his knowledge was fairly basic as well).

In the seven weeks that I did work there, I constantly asked the manager if there was anything he wanted me to do, but usually he'd look around and say no.  So I answered the phone and performed basic office functions like handling the mail, filing, ordering couriers and the odd bit of typing.

I organised services for the new office as well as various contractors who were required to do repairs to the old premises ready for hand-over to the property agent.  I cleaned almost every surface in the office, including printers and computers and even trimmed off the dead leaves on the pot plants!

Interspersed among the above, I had enough time to read most of Goblet of Fire, and all of The Order of the Pheonix and The Half Blood Prince during working hours!  I also composed some LJ entries, and posts for TORC's MOME thread.

That door's closed, and another opens.  I've just had a call from one of my employment agencies to say I have an interview on Thursday for a permanent job!  *Fingers crossed*

work, lj
