So I keep finding artists that I really like for their music, but have crappy lives. And I know that if I told most people, "OMG, I totally love their music," they'd probably laugh at me. Then again, they can bite me

Ah! Stupid backspace button...myindigoessenceJune 8 2007, 16:02:22 UTC
Music takes up a good chunk of me. If I had to name some bands: KoRn, Led Zeppelin, Incubus, The White Stripes, Linkin Park, AC/DC, Fall Out Boy, David Bowie, Tom Petty, Blackmore's Knight, Medievel Babes, Dead Can Dance, Placebo, Mindless Self Indulgence, Justin Timberlake, Tori Amos, Alanis Morissette, Shakira, AC/DC, Depeche Mode, Prince, Skinny White Chick (I really like her music), Al Green. That's not even a sample of what I like.
You know it's weird. I would never have been caught dead listening to Britney Spears or any "boy bands". Looking back in high school, if I was going to stereotype myself I would've been the headbanger grunge chick with the huuuge Jnco/kikwear pants and spike collars/bracelets (let's not reminisce). For me it was KoRn, Metallica, Pantera, Godsmack, Rammstein, Tool, Deftones ... just anything that was loud and rocked. I listened to rap/hip-hop growing up, but after middle school I just hated it, that and country.
Then something happened in my senior year of high school. Not sure but, I think I grew up. Long story short, my taste for music has broadened like ten fold. I have a much open mind and lisen to almost everything I can find. I still love my metal and rock and listen to all that, but now I have alternative, classic rock, industrial, pop, dance, electronic, celtic, new age, ambient, Bollywood, broadway, hiphop/R&B, reggae, punk, 80's, and other stuff I can't categorize. Right now I'm really getting into world/international/dance music ... I just feel like dancing all the time (not in public) for some reason.

Definitely. Their mistakes are no bigger than when ordinary people do these things. It actually reminds me of Lohan's "Rumors." You should give it a listen if you don't know it. There's a vid on YouTube somewhere.

I actually don't like a lot of the really hard stuff. I've never been able to get into Korn or anything like that, but I love Linkin Park, Rammstein and...I know I'm forgetting someone. Who did Chop Sewey, do you know?
It was funny because the fact that I actually like Britney and the boy bands and all of that was like my dirty little secret in high school. My best friend was listening to more 80s and early 90s sounds and the theatre people were into The Beatles and Dispatch and I picked up Linkin Park and that group from another group...everyone would have laughed.
But I figure everyone has that one band or artist they just *love* that completely contradicts everything else they listen to. Besides, I have over 6 GBs of music...surely there's some commonality somewhere, right? ;)

Chop Suey! System of a Down did that song.
Oh I have a LOT of guilty pleasures. I do in fact have Christina Agulera and Britney Spears and stuff like that in my iTunes. I had that Toxic video in my folder before I lost it. I don't think I believe in guilty pleasures anymore, If I like the music I like it, whether it's pop or "emo", end of story. Right now I have about 4 or 5 gigs of music on my hardrive right now... the only reason why I don't have more is because I discovered my hand-me-down computer only has 20G, and I'm running out of space. =*(. But on the other hand, I have like almost 200 cd's. Used to have 200+ but sold some.
