The yucks

I've been borderline-sick for most of the week. Not so sick that I need to stay home, just sick enough to put me off my good mood. I've taken a couple earlyish afternoons. Just a cold, I think.

So this past Sunday I finally mainlined all of "Downton Abbey." I'd been putting it off. Mostly because I have this fear of watching something that gets into my fangirl brain and knocks me into a new fandom, because I can't participate in more than one fandom at a time and I'm having such fun in the Sherlock fandom that I don't want to leave it. But I just said to hell with it, and watched it.

It's really awesomely excellent. And SO MUCH delicious attention paid to continuity. So much glorious period drama manners-and-protocol and it's all so juicy. The cast is awesome and the characters are amazingly multilayered. The good guys have their jerky moments, the bad guys have moments of heart, everyone has all these incredibly interwoven relationships and friendships and interactions and it all feels very real. I downloaded the first two eps of series 2, ep 3 will air this Sunday, so looking forward to that.

No real plans for the weekend. I've got some writing and housework to do and I have a haircut on Saturday. Yawners.
