Peadar's 60th Birthday Party!!

Peadar's 60th birthday party fell on 8th August 2008. It was truly magnificent. All the elements were there... family, friends and food. There was singing, dancing, and lots of boozing. There was a total of 16 people (2 underaged), and in the morning, the beverage count was 15 botttles of wine, two bottles of Champagne, two bottles of Whiskey and about six cans of beer.

Suffice to say everyone felt a little seedy the next day.

Here are some photos from the evening which started at 7pm and wrapped up just before 3am.

Paula and Daniel getting the staples ready for the evening.
Bread... check.

Butter... check.

Shepherd's pie... check. Thanks Mary.

Six of them!!! And there was more out the back too!

Peadar and Daniel... family resemblence across the generations.

Family resemblence within one generation. Peter and Mark :)
Wonder why my brother and I don't look anything alike - maybe my brother is adopted?

We celebrated three birthday's that day... well it was close to Peadar's, Nicola's and also Catherine's... so it was a triple threat.

Peadar playing around with his new JVC (ugh) mini-DV camcorder... and that's Peter in the foreground. Enigmatic as usual.

This is where the party started getting out of hand... the aunties and one uncle out on the patio dancing in the moonlight.
In case you can't tell, it was blowing up a gale something severe. The Irish are mad. That said they were having a blast - can't blame them!

Everyone huddles around Peadar's new laptop (courtesy of Paula, Peter and Mark) and Skype with Sandra in Martha's Vineyard - that's the youngest of the four siblings.

At about 2.30am, Daniel passes out. Everyone was singing traditional Irish songs for 3 hours (I exaggerate not).

If it was polite for me to have done the same I would have been out cold much earlier than him. I couldn't let the little guy outlast me - what kind of impression would that have made! So that was Peadar's 60th Birthday Party.

Day three of Clare County to come.
