Today started with a 2½ hour dentist appointment. Then I drove to the airport to catch a plane to Charlotte. I went to reserve a hotel room, and there were no Marriott properties (which are all non-smoking these days) nearby. So I cast around a bit and found a reasonably well-reviewed Microtel. fizzygeek and I are journeying up to Atlantic City this weekend to see the Mummers String Band Show of Shows at Boardwalk Hall! We'll be driving up on Friday, staying at Somers Point, then catching the noon show. Then we'll head out to visit ghibli_geek and friends, hang out in Bucks County for a bit, pick up scallion pancakes and pretzels, and head back home on

Well, we're back from our jaunt to Arizona. Virginia is just like we left it, cold. It was 27ºF (-3ºC) when we left, and 27º when we got back. By the time we got back to Purcellville, it was 14º (-10ºC). When we came into the house, the heater was running, which was reassuring. But it was cold upstairs. And the clocks were wrong. For years, I've had a bug zapper in the attic. It keeps wasps colonies from forming by eliminating any workers that blunder into my attic. However, for some reason it has been busy lately.
