Good timing -- i guess

this afternoon the director of the hearings department wanted to see me. i didn't think anything of it because i'm in traning and i figured it was about some training thing or my schedule or something. poor woman. she was so put out by having to tell me this. of course i wished she had just cut to the chase and said it without all te lead in as to how the situation arose. (now that your interest is piqued) apparently my contract is not complete and this was discovered when the CFO was signing off on my first paycheck, which btw was FAT. i guess she was expecting me to blow a gasket, afteer all i'm a a lawyer and i have a reputation to uphold. but i didn't. i was just glad i still had a a job. in this economy you never can tell. when she was finished explaining this all and aplogizing and telling me how embarrassed she was....i said "so i should go home and you'll call when it's complete?" they can't pay me until the last part of the contract is complete so i can just go home. as it turns out this works perfectly b/c i haven't even packed for our trip to colorado on saturday and when we get back we have three days to finish packing the house before the movers come. there was no way we could have done it all in the evenings. so i get to sleep in a bit tomorrow...anything is better than that 5:30am alarm!
