Question for Classical Music Fans

Apr 11, 2008 23:11

I'm trying to save money for a holiday at the end of the year so i'm looking for cheap things to do. Every year BBC have the Proms at Royal Albert Hall. They're a series of concerts that are mostly classical and philharmonic and nearly all of them have tickets as cheap as £20 and some down to £10. The family shows are all £10 but they are also balloted so i may not get in even by booking early.

I did put myself in the Ballot for the Doctor Who Prom which will have a special video written by Russell and featuring David, the show is hosted by Freema, Daleks and Cybermen will invade and the music will either be from Doctor Who or have a time and space theme.

Anyway my question for anyone who knows any classical music are there any reccomendations? Either composers, musicians etc... Basically is there anything that should be good? My problem is I don't know classical music at all. I know i like some of it but i have no idea what that is so any recc's would be good. If anyone wants to have a look here is the website that shows all concerts: http://www.bbc.co.uk/proms/2008/.

Thanks!
