The bus trip yesterday was good. Ended up spending nearly the entire day with the new girl from Defence Materiel which was fun. She's only been here about a month and we figured out we worked for the same unit back home she was just in the Canberra office while i was in Sydney. She's a bad influence who tends to drag me out drinking regularly. It's a bit nuts which is why i'm gonna be calling her the Theatre Drunk. Cause while she isn't dragging me to pubs where usually talking theatre stuff cause she used to do musicals back home and has been talking about going to stuff here as well.
Anyway first stop on the trip was Blenheim Palace which was interesting. It's a beautiful old building. Lots of cool history and some amazing grounds. We stopped and looked through part of the building and then after that went wandering around the grounds and went over to the maze, the Pleasure Gardens and the Butterfly House and had a look around there.
After spending the morning there we got to Oxford around 2:30 and stopped at a pub for lunch. Then we went to a different pub and then we finally ended up in the pub where Bob Hawke broke the world record for drinking a Yard glass and where Bill Clinton "didn't inhale". So instead of looking into the colleges or the historic buildings I got convinced to do a pub crawl. Will have to go back and do the other stuff later but it was fun.
As for the tv section of geek weekend... Loved BSG. Not sure what I thought about Doctor Who yet (other than being very glad i had something that was angst free) and i'm still upset by Torchwood.
