I have stories to tell!
First. I crashed on my (lovely, pink) bike tonight! Aaaaah!! We were on our way back from the park, and I turned down a different way to get home ahead of my brother, but then he turned around and came after me, and then sped up and I was like noooooo! so I was riding fast too, and then we turned on to our street but I was going fast and lost control and hit the curb and flew off my bike and scraped up my hands rather badly. My mum and I put 11 bandaids on all my scrapes! Woo!! It was exciting for both of us, because we have like three boxes of bandaids and never have any reason to use them, but tonight we got to search for all different shapes and sizes. I kinda blacked out for a bit too, which was an interesting experience. I was conscious, but I couldn't really see anything, and then I could sort of make out very faint shadows of objects. Mum said my eyes were all rolled back in my head or something. I'm glad I didn't have to see myself like that... I think that would be more freaky than my actual experience.
Second. I was thinking about how memory association works. For example, any time I think of My Darling! Miss Bancho, I remember reading it at the hotel in Mancelona with that episode of Criminal Minds-spinoff that Ysa doesn't like playing in the background, and being nervous about the talk I was going to do with elementary school kids the next day. Or when I go to the park we were riding our bikes through tonight, I remember reading volume 5 of I Hate You More Than Anyone there a couple summers ago, when my grandpa from the Caribbean was visiting and they had some old guys playing old rock songs that we all went to see. (there were a couple old guys playing old rock songs tonight too. it's a summer tradition, I guess.) So I got a little sad about CMX on our bike ride, even though I know I'm not doomed as far as I Hate You♥ goes, thanks to
double_dear!
Speaking of, I wanted to
talk about 10Hate a bit. I'll get the one thing I didn't love out of the way first-Kazuha's dress was ridiculous. I'm usually all for eccentric fashion, but... I don't get it. Sorry, Hidaka-sensei. Senko's outfit was lovely, though!! (and her legs! (heh :D))
The second chapter, about Kazuha and Senko in middle school. It kinda came out of nowhere as far as the flow of the story, but once I adjusted, I liked it. Kazuyuki...♥!!!!! Seeing Kazuha yelling at their silly sempai in Senko's defense was amusing.
And... then there were lots of fabulous and hilarious adventures with Senko and Honjo, and the adorableness of Maki and Kazuha. Yay! And Chii, I always love when he shows up. Besides just seeing how Chii and Kazu get along, I like how Hidaka-sensei shows their family relationship through body language, I guess? There's a comfortable, casual atmosphere when they're together, lounging around the house and whatever. It's nicely drawn.
Then there's the ending. Waaah! Makiiiii!!! But even that ends up as a really sweet scene. But I'm still very much anticipating the next volume. (no rush,
