Guess who's going skating tomorrow? Yes, it's been years since the last time I skated and I'm so chuffed about going again that I even have to mention it here. As a former
Ringette player (I know, I'm such a stereotype), it's embarrassing that I don't whip out my skates that often anymore. Anyway, it'll be fantastic. ♥
On the fandom front, then, how come all my shows are suddenly femslashy as heck? Wait, let me rephrase that. How come TPTB have all of a sudden blessed us with such gayness that my little fangirly heart feels like bursting? Seriously, Better Off Ted, The Forgotten, Legend of the Seeker and The Good Wife suddenly turned up the subtext and I was like HOLY CRAP.
Better Off Ted (aka The Funniest Show Ever That No One Knows about)
They're gaying it up both intentionally and unintentionally.
This would be intentional:
Linda definitely has the gayness in her.
And this, then, would be sort of unintentional:
Linda: [looking at Veronica's backside] Wow, she's having a great ass day!
Yes, that's really what she said. The Veronica/Linda scenes are always the funniest, too. And the gayest, of course. In a way, their relationship is the most consistent one of the entire show.
Yep, the femslash is definitely there.
The Forgotten (aka The Worst Show Ever That No One Knows about Either)
Why am I still watching this train wreck of a show? Your guess is as good as mine. Fortunately, they throw in some Lindsay/Candace every now and again, because I think I might otherwise die of the general awfulness of the show.
Take the following, for example. Candace shows up in a very short skirt and does a pirouette for Linsday. No, I'm not kidding.
Lindsay: Wow, you look amazing!
Yes, that really is what she said. The editing of the scene is rather peculiar as well, because they immediately cut to Lindsay's smiling face after Candace has done her little twirl.
All in all, a terrible, terrible show, but, randomly, quite gay.
The Good Wife (aka The Gayest Legal Drama since, Well, Ever)
Oh, Kalinda. Oh, Kalinda and Alicia, and their undeniable chemistry. "Infamy" was such a femslashy episode, my God. First, Kalinda comes to make sure Alicia is okay when the latter is all RAGE and SLAMMING DOORS and ARGH.
Is that a glass of milk? Eww. But yes, the way Kalinda smiles mysteriously = love.
And then the ending. So ridiculously femslashy that my brain broke. Indeed, who is the closeted lesbian at Gardner & Lockhart? Either they're just cruelly playing with us (in which case I'll hurt someone), or Kalinda is the biggest homo ever.
Apart from Alicia's obvious 'Duuude, they're so onto you & us' sideway glance, note Kalinda's death grip on the beer bottle. Also, the whole 'drinking beer' thing in itself? Yeah, I rest my case.
Legend of the Seeker (aka The Cara Show with Some Other Peeps in It as Well)
There really is no turning back, I'm so addicted it's not even funny. Cara is F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S. Also, I have to admit, I wasn't completely on board the Cara/Kahlan bandwagon until I saw "Resurrection". But now? Damn. The femslash practically whacked me across the face.
Cara: You don't know the first thing about the Mother Confessor.
Denna: I know that Kahlan Amnell doesn't care for Mord'Sith. She tried to kill me. Twice.
Cara: She's a woman of honour! She spared my life, even after she found out I killed her sister. [pause] Her loyalties are not in question.
So deliciously territorial, om nom nom. And the look on Denna's face is like "OMG. This biatch is totes in love with her!". She's right in her assessment, of course.
But ahh! Cara & Kahlan were so darn good in this episode. And the way the latter looks at Cara when Cara's apologising to Deni is a textbook "Oh, noes. What are these strange FEELINGS I have?" look.
Then Richard comes back from the Underworld (don't you just love fantasy?) and Kahlan's all "Oh, yeah! There's this Seeker dude with a hanging bit that's supposed to be my soulmate. Let's make out so that we can see Cara's jealous face."
Lesbos, the lot of them! Cara & Kahlan will be BFFs yet.
Finally, there will be a new Criminal Minds episode this week (
the preview looks weird and really, really creepy), but no fangirly picspam, because I won't be in the country. Instead, I'll be pestering
atfm in Berlin. \o/ Excitement!
Let me leave you with the following BBC promo for Walk on the Wild Side. It's old (the entire playlist is), but because I live under a rock, I hadn't seen it before last week.
