Friday
I slept in this morning sleeping a total of 11 hours. The night would have been perfect except that at points I was uncomfortable and had trouble sleeping well. After getting up and getting ready for the day I planned to work on the data gathering my mom asked me to help with. I started it the other day but wasn't able to finish. It didn't help that I got caught up watching pieces of the Teen Titans movie on TV. -_-
Just as I was getting ready to get settled down to work on the computer my mom asked if I was ready to go to lunch. 9_9 I can't help but think that I would get a lot more done if I wasn't going out to lunch every day and getting up late every day. I was a little conflicted this time though. I wanted go anywhere but Arby's for lunch. Thing was I just couldn't decide if I really wanted to go with them or head somewhere else like Burger King or Godfathers Pizza. Bo and I decided ultimately to go to Burger King since it is right next door to the Arby's my parents would be at.
Bo and I enjoyed our lunch by ourselves. I perused a Target ad while there and discovered that the digital photo frame I want to get my grandma for Christmas is on sale for $68. I figured I could look into picking it up when I got back to the house.
After lunch we headed home and I looked up the frame online. Turns out the sale was a two day sale and all of the frames at the Wenatchee target and Kennewick target were sold in around 2 hours. The Wenatchee target said they should have in more the next day so I planed to check on them in the morning. I looked up a few other sites for frames of comparable price and didn't find much.
It wasn't too long after I completed the research that it was time to leave again. This time we were heading to Ephrata to the theater to watch the movie Happy Feet and have dinner. Dad discovered the other night when we were at pizza that the same pizza place also makes pizza at the theater. So we could show up early and get a booth to eat dinner while we watched the movie.
The trip down there was less than hospitable. Dad wanted to listen to his books on tape, I happened to be right next to one of the back speakers. I had to hold my ears closed the entire 30-minute trip just to keep the volume at a reasonable level! Worse yet the content of the book was (in my opinion) not suitable for my kids and my dad should have known that!
We arrived at the theater, got our tickets and got our seat. The nice thing about this place is that the seats with tables are actual booths. It was really a nice setting and comfortable for watching a movie and eating. Dad picked up the pizza's from the counter while mom got the sodas (which I helped with).
The movie itself was not too bad. I don't have much to say about it, but I did enjoy it.
After the movie I asked if we could stop at Wal Mart on the way back to both check out their selection of Digital Photo Frames and get a bottle of water (I was really thirsty). When we got in the car I tried to be as nice as possible but still came across as irritated when I asked my dad to please turn off the book on tape (CD… whatever).
When we got to Wal Mart Bo, Mom and I went inside while the others stayed out in the car. We found one frame on the shelf but it was not really what we were looking for (the screen was smaller than the others). So we headed back up front and I picked up two bottled waters (I was REALLY thirsty by this time).
When we returned to the car I realized that my dad probably used that time to listen to his book. I was going to talk with him as soon as we got to the car but there was some commotion about a missing disk and the sound was still up too loud. -_- I finally got the point across to him about it being inappropriate for my kids and he left it off for the rest of the drive home. That wasn't too bad though because we managed to talk all the way home about the movie and other things so it seemed to take no time at all.
We got home around 6:30 and I set to writing out my journal entry for the previous day and checking email. I was once again reminded of why I really dislike television. I ended up watching two episodes of CSI Miami because they were on in the living room (within viewing distance of my laptop) and after a while I just wanted to know who did it. -_- I HATE that! I wasted two hours on that. _~_
So naturally just as I was going to sit down and get back to work mom invites us all out to trivia. *sigh* I told her that I would be able to get a lot more done if we weren't heading out somewhere all day long.
I decided that I wanted to spend the time with the family anyway so I tagged along. It was then that my mom suggested that I drive so that people weren't so crowded in the cars. So I drove there (my daughter joined me in the car). I ended up having to park way out in the back of the lot because the parking lot was full up. I didn't count that as too bad but I should have seen it as a sign.
We got inside and seated only to find that my dad was going to sit at a booth away from my daughter, Bo and I. I was debating on whether this was really a problem for me. I on the one hand they had invited us and he hates it when we don't participate as a family by sitting together. Then again I could just be irritated for no good reason. I ordered a water from the waitress so I could take some more time to decide. My dad must have sensed what was bothering me because he moved down to the table we were at (as did everyone else) by the time the game started.
So after drinking my water I ordered a diet soda. When I got the soda it was flat and warm. I thought at first that it might have been because I had asked for it without ice. So I told the waitress that the soda tasted flat and asked if she could get me one with some ice in it. She gave me an indignant look and went to exchange it. When she brought me the soda it also tasted flat and only a little bit colder. I told her that there had to be something wrong with their fountain and asked if there was a separate fountain that she could get the soda from. She told me no and asked if I wanted anything else. I told her that diet was the only soda I could drink (it's the only one I can stand to drink at least).
I just left it and didn't drink anything after that. I noticed that my dad's diet did not taste flat like mine and that basically all the second round drinks did. I figured I was just SOL so I went back to playing trivia.
My son had complained about a stomachache and we discerned that it was because he hadn't eaten in a while so my mom ordered some appetizers to eat. She made a big deal about them being for everyone to share. Just after they arrived I headed to the bathroom. When I got back all of the appetizers were gone. I just couldn't believe it! So yeah it was shaping up to be a bad night. I was considering ordering a virgin daiquiri as something to drink but never could get the waitress' attention again (she served the others but not me).
When mom got the bill I asked her to make sure they hadn't charged her for my soda since it wasn't any good and the waitress knew about it. Sure enough they had charged for it but mom was going to pay for it anyway. She was even going to leave a tip. I am sorry but below standard service does not deserve extra money (in my opinion). Better yet my mom headed to the bathroom at the newer side of the bar after paying the bill. When she returned she had a diet soda from that side of the building and the soda tasted fine. Mom said she notified the people at the bar but I doubt it will do much good. I can't believe that lady completely lied to me about it not mattering. She obviously didn't want to make the effort.
Mom getting me a soda from the other bar actually lightened up my night even with it bringing our waitress' inaction to light. I even won the last game of trivia before we left. ^_^
As we were heading home I decided to stop by Safeway and pick up some diet "Ditto" (or lemon lime) soda to help with the stomachache I seemed to be having. When I got home I spent some time on the computer writing out entries before going to bed.
