Saturday
I was up at 8:10 this morning in anticipation of having to call the Wenatchee Target store about the Digital Photo Frame they had on sale. We had planned to drive up there if there was a need and pick one up or check out Costco for a similar item. As it turned out they didn't get half of the electronics in their ad in the latest shipment (on purpose I am sure).
So I got ready for the day and worked on a new plan for the day. I decided that the first order of the day would be to attempt to finish the work my mom had asked me to do. So I began compiling the information from her survey responses.
Around 10:45 I heard a cell phone go off. Since no one ever calls me on mine (and I wasn't even sure it was on) I jumped for my parents phone. When it didn't show that there was an incoming call I was a bit perplexed. I finally picked up my phone and it was Debby! ^_^
She called to set at time to get together for lunch and suggested meeting in Ritzville (approximately half way between my parents house and her's). So I estimated the time it would take me to drive and we set the lunch at 1pm.
My daughter asked if she could go with me and I expected as much. I had intended to bring my son as well but he didn't want to get up. He told me later that about 5 minutes after I had left he had regretted not going (which I knew he would 9_9).
I went back to working on the survey compiling for my mom and at around 11:45 I decided it was time to head out since I would have to stop and get gas first. Mom loaned me her gas card and we were on our way. Our stop at the gas station was surprisingly brief (I thought there would be a line) and soon we were on the boring trip East to Ritzville. We talked and listened to Initial D music on the way over.
We pulled into the second exit for Ritzville around 12:50 and pulled up to the Perkins (which is where we had agreed to meet). Debby said she wasn't sure if she would remember my car and the same held true for me. Though I recognized it instantly as I pulled past it in the parking lot. Once we were out of the car she told me they had only been there for 3 minutes. I asked if she was surprised that I was 10 minutes early (I had joked about arriving at 2pm).
There was a short wait to get a table and they were pretty busy (I guess not surprisingly so since it's about the only place to go in Ritzville). I was patient though and we sat and talked while waiting.
I was quick to decide what I wanted to order (not wanting to hold things up like last time). I had been torn between breakfast and lunch, but ultimately choose lunch at my daughter's suggestion.
We talked and talked and talked and talked! Pretty soon it had been 3 hours we had been there talking and eating. Debby's son had long since lost interest in staying inside, as had my daughter. We finally said our good bye's and headed out at right around 4pm.
I really enjoyed the visit. I don't often get to talk with Debby and it's always fun when I get the chance. I had poorly chosen the side of the table facing the windows and it was pretty bright out so I had some trouble focusing across the table but that's all inconsequential. I look forward to visiting with her again and hopefully next time we can meet in Seattle or something. ^_^
On the drive home I realized it was probably the worst time of day for me to be driving. The sun was right in my eyes the whole way home and there wasn't much that could keep it out (even with my sunglasses and the shade). My daughter fell asleep next to me even though I had put on the music she had requested, so it was a quiet trip home.
When I got back I realized it had been roughly the equivalent of a drive to Portland and back. Not too out of place for my average Saturday. ^_^
Almost as soon as I sat down at home I was whisked away again on a trip to Home Depot with my dad. Sometimes I hate shopping with my parents. My dad wanted to buy more Christmas lights and I suggested the LED lights. He insisted on the bright white ones and I just shrugged (why did he ask me if he wasn't going to listen anyway). Then he wouldn't use the self-check for some unknown reason. So we had to wait 15 minutes in line behind one person. _~_
Back at home again I sat down to work on finishing the survey compiling. It took quite a while yet to finish that up but I did manage to get it done. Soon enough after that it was dinnertime.
Mom had found that the Turnner Classic Movies channel had White Christmas on so we watched while we got things together for dinner. Dinner tonight would be Fondue. I got all my food together on my plate and sat down to watch the remainder of the movie. It's one of my favorites and I enjoy watching it every year. My son had piled on a stack of bread and cooked steak that probably took half the bowl!! (he ate it all too o_O)
After dinner and the movie had ended people started to disperse. I suggested earlier that we watch The Divinci Code after White Christmas and we all agreed that after a short break we would do just that.
I got ready for bed and then settled down in the living room waiting for the movie. I thought I was going to fall asleep during it since I was so tired. Surprisingly I stayed awake for the whole movie. It went just long enough that it was time for bed after it ended. I really enjoyed this movie and will probably have to pick it up for myself at some point.
I was sad to be heading to bed for the last time on my vacation but it had to come to an end sometime. I fell asleep I no time.
