Why is it so hard to find good help? I've contact 5 people in the last 2 weeks to hire. Two had already taken a job elsewhere. Fine, no problem. 3 I ended up hiring. 1 called in 5 minutes before her first day and decided she didn't really want a job, 1 of the others I had to fire after less than a week of employment because he decided to not show up for a couple of days and no calls or anything. That leaves me 1 and I already have one in my employment that is destined to be terminated once I can find a replacement. The one I have left is still a replacement for the previous guy that left because he found out he had cancer.
I'm so tired of interviewing people. I'm tired of people thinking that because it is a computer related job they can suddenly get 4 times the amount of pay any other job in the area pays. Damn the low unemployment rate. It has been nothing but a thorn in my side for the last 4 months. I can't wait for winter when everyone starts laying off employees and there might be a decent employee pool again. We are also starting wages at about 30% to 45% higher than what I started at 5 years ago. It's crazy.
