Not much going on here. I went to a Nigerian Dwarf goat show about a month ago, took home something like 18 ribbons, for the 5 goats I took to the show, mostly first and second place. I have another show that I'm attending in October right after my birthday and will hopefully do well there as well. I'll hopefully have the papers back on more of my goats so I can show them. I'm up to 2 Nubians, 5 Pygmies, 2 Pygerians, 4 La Manchas and 14 Nigerians with some babies due any day now. I'm currently milking 2 goats, down from the 3 I was milking a week ago. My schedule runs something like this.
4:30am get ready for work
4:45am milk goats
5:15am eat breakfast
5:30 leave for work
6:00 - 3:00 work
3:30 do farm/house chores
5:00 feed and milk goats
5:30 put on dinner and continue with chores
6:30 eat dinner
7:00 to 8:30 do whatever I haven't finished yet
8:30 to 9:00 read and then I'm off to bed hopefully
That which does not kill me makes me stronger? If I didn't have to work away from home I definitely wouldn't. I dread the weekdays because I have to sit at a desk all day. I'm not cut out for that type of work which is why I tend to pace and find other things to do at work that allow me away from my desk. Work has become a big headache as well. Employees are constantly coming and going. This low unemployment rate can definitely be felt. I can't find a decent employee to save my life. Two interviews tomorrow to continue the search. Usually when I have a job opening I get 50-100 resumes easy, these last two times I've been lucky to get 5. This is nuts and very frustrating. I've spent several 11 hour days at work because I was the only one in that day. I need a vacation!
Lately I've felt abandoned by all my friends. I've never been good at making friends and the few good friends I've had I've tried to keep but lately I haven't heard from any of them. I guess its time to put pen to paper and write them again. I'm a bit old-fashioned I guess but for my distant friends I like to write actual letters to them. There is a bit of a romance in getting letters that are hand written. I'm a country girl at heart. There is nothing better than sitting in the woods reading hand written letters and listening to the sounds of nature. I was born into the wrong time-frame.
On a side note. I'm pulling my daughter out of public school. These teachers should be ashamed to call themselves teachers. I'll be homeschooling her which I wish I would have done to begin with. The teachers can't handle her thus don't bother to teach her. She's always been very active and hard to get to sit down, but all you have to do is be consistent and give her something that is at her level. Doing simple addition for 6 months just doesn't go over well, and she's very good at figuring someone out and learning how to get them to do what she wants. Even if that was the only problem the teachers here still can't teach, they use to be excellent teachers, but now over half their kids are being held back each year.
I've also been making virtually all of my own dairy products. I hope to within the next 5 years become a certified grade A raw dairy but the regulations in Arizona are pretty strict so it could take a bit longer. Other than that I haven't been up to much though.
