*insert something clever here*

I have thought about posting a zillion different things here over the last week and somehow never actually posted any of them.

Here's a minirecap of the things I could remember:

Lots of movie release date craziness. I really don't have a problem with the moves, but really, WB? Eight months? I mean, it's Harry freakin' Potter. Is there a time of year ( Read more... )

I just hope Harry Potter isn't threatened with the release of the Twilight movie, which is what some fans are saying about the movie release date move. But you're right, it's Harry Potter. Seriously. I'm kind of miffed I won't get to see it in time for my birthday, which was always the thing about the movies (except for PoA and OotP).

I'm happy you're reading The Time-Traveler's Wife now! :) I believe I recommended it to viper209n and she did say she was gonna lend you that one. It's a good book, possibly one of my favorites.

I agree with handyhunter. They know Twilight cannot compete with Harry Potter. Especially not internationally.

I think the Twilight release date was moved after Harry Potter's. Which, if true, shows that Summit also recognizes that releasing Twilight with HP would be a very poor marketing move.

I'm sorry you won't get to see it for your birthday! OotP was supposed to be released on my birthday (the 13th) but a few months before they changed it to the 11th. Ugh. I was so aggravated.

Yeah she told me you recommended it. Thanks! I really like it.

That's pretty much what I was thinking. As of right now, there's almost nothing to compete with HP next summer, so it's a very smart marketing move I think.

Yes the story telling is really what makes it interesting. It's like a puzzle - you get bits and pieces as that come together you go. I'm not really invested in any of the characters myself, now that you mention it.

No worries.
A few years back I went through a (really bizarre) phase where I decided I hated capitalization and refused to use it in any informal writing. You could see this in my early posts on the Lex, except, I guess they are no more since the hack.

Sororities can be a crap-shoot. It depends on the sorority, it depends on the college, and there are probably some other things it depends on, too. I was in one, but my undergratuate college was something like ninety percent Greek ( ... )

Yeah, I think it used to be like that here, but the last few years more people have been independent.

There are different kinds of sororities here. There are several different academic and interest based ones I think, but they aren't out doing events or wearing matching or impractical clothing, so I don't notice them. The ones I see much of have a lot of random rules that are strictly enforced. And spend a lot of money.

I'm proud to say that my sorority was the one in four that didn't have a stereotype at my college.
Bold, smart and creative. Wow, that's awesome. It's really hard to avoid stereotypes - I've heard about the reputations of several of the sororities and fraternities but I can't tell them one from another yet so it doesn't mean anything to me.

A big *sigh* to Harry Potter being moved. They're the only movies I see in the theater with my Mom and we both really look forward to them.

It's funny that many people I've talked to have expressed disappointment with Twilight being released earlier. I guess everyone had their plans made. It's closer to my birthday though, so I have an excuse to drag folks with me to it!

Oh, I'm sorry! But like I said at least we won't have to wait through a two year gap. (Well, we do, but it's over half way over now!)
I was disappointed at first, but then I remembered Beedle the Bard comes out in December. New Canon! Yay!
(I always want to say Beedle AND the Bard instead of Beedle the Bard.)

Yes, you can sucker your loved ones into experiencing RPatz in all his angsty glory with you. Should be fun.

I finally read Breaking Dawn. I didn't come here till I read it, for fear that I might run into something. Then I remembered that you wouldn't put up spoilers without a warning.

Thanks for the link to the game. Do you play Scrabulous? And if I could ask, what's the link to your facebook profile? I'd like to add you, if you're ok with that.

And, what are Sororities?

Cheers,
Sharanya
