Long day short, was up at 7 (only got 5 hours of sleep), took the foster kittens and mom to Appleway Subaru for an adoption event at 9. Anastasia (medium haired grey torbie) went within half an hour. The girl who picked her seemed iffy, but I guess she lives with her sister's family. The sister looked fine and they had two kids (6 and 4, I'd say) who were really well behaved and and nicely dressed. The little girl kind of looked like Annie, really cute and biiiig round eyes. I think she'll do well with them. The weird looking sister said they have a 7 month old kitten, so she'll have a playmate.
An hour or 2 later a family came in and each of their 2 boys took a kitten (the older, about 10, took Data, our medium haired orange tabby. The younger, about 6, took Bridget, our short hair orange tabby). I was really glad that they went together, I think it'll make it easier. The boys were SO happy to get their kittens, too :) The mom said they'd been wanting one for ages. I was a little hesitant because one son said they'd had 2 cats but they'd given them up. I asked why (no way I'm giving my babies to losers) and the mom said they'd moved from a decent sized farm to a small house in the city, so when the people who bought the house asked to keep the cats they let them. They didn't think it would be fair to cram them inside when they were used to roaming. I thought that was fair. She also specified that their oldest had been one, so it wasn't like they were his cats. He was sooo excited when he saw Data, though, he set on him right away.
One of the Subaru employees fell in love with Eve (mom, tortoise shell) right away. He walked in, asked if he could take a picture, convinced his wife, and was back within the hour to do the paperwork and make sure we wouldn't let someone else have her. They don't have any other pets or kids, which I think is great. She's such an attention-whore that she'll be happier alone. She always ignores our cats and never played with the kittens, so I don't think she'll mind. He also said he's home a lot so he'll be able to spend a lot of time petting her :)
Spock (short haired grey tabbie) was the last to go. He was adopted around 3 (but there weren't really any people coming in after Data and Bridge went) by another Subaru employee, but I wasn't there to judge. Dallin said the manager of the lot pretty much badgered her until she gave in. I liked him :)
The only downside (besides giving them up after being really attached) to the adoption process was that there were a lot of dogs, mostly puppies, all of them loud, which scared all the cats. After a while the dogs were mostly gone and the kittens calmed down, but the older cats never did. When Dallin left at 3 our kittens were the only cats that had been adopted. =/ They did adopt out about 8 dogs by then, including one to a co-worker of mine :)
I miss them...I cried so much when Anastasia went, and when Dallin told me Spock had been taken. I miss them. We had them for so long...we got them before their eyes were even open! I'm happy they're in good homes, but I really miss them already. I'm saying that a lot because it's really all I can think. We still have our Athena, but she's freaked out because all of her siblings are gone. She's growling at everything (like the box spring), tried to climb my back (her claws are now trimmed), and really distressed. I feel bad, but I know she'll be ok. She really seems to like Goose and Goose really seems to like playing with her...we'll keep a close eye on them, but if they're friends then we'll keep Goose. Otherwise it isn't working. She's continuing to pee on stuff, eating stuff (which is new), snapped at one of the kittens...just not good.
But now I've been up since 7 on very little sleep, so I'm hitting the sack. Time for some good cuddling with Dallin :) Good night, all.
