Ah, the joys of working at 6AM. There isn't anything to do that early so they had me tear up the mats we stand on (makes it less painful). The mats are duct taped to the floor and haven't been taken up in about 3 years. They just kept layering the tape. I don't know if any of you have had experience with several year old duct tape, especially when you've had people standing on it for 12-14 hours a day, but it gets really well stuck to the floor. I had a razor blade (I broke 7) to scrape the adhesive off the mats and floor, then swept 3 years of nastiness out from under the cabinets, then retaped the mats. It took me about 3 hours to get through 8. By the time I was finished my palms and fingers were black from tape, sticky residue, dirt, dust, and who knows what. It took Clorox wipes and Goo Gone to get it all off. That made my hands really chapped and icky >.< On the bright side, I found about $1 in change!
I got off at 10 and ran the red light leaving the parking lot. I sat there for 5 minutes while every other direction got to go 4 times. The person in front of me finally turned right out of the left lane. I sat for another few minutes then just went when no one was coming. There were people behind me so backing up and going another way wasn't an option. Luckily there were no cops. Dallin had another fun story. He was driving to class and was tailgated the entire way by some van (despite his going over the speed limit). There was a car in the lane next to them so the van couldn't pass. After tailing him for about 2 miles the van finally got the opportunity to pass, whipped around Dallin, sped up to at least 45 (in a 30) and was immediately pulled over by a cop who was sitting at the intersection :)
I had an extremely Republican day, full of anti-Obama, anti-gay, anti-liberal bullshit...I don't feel like going into it, but suffice it to say I never knew how many of my coworkers were total idiots. Also, one is married to a sex offender but is scared because she has 2 daughters and is afraid he'll molest them. I don't why she's still with him if she's afraid of that, but ok.
When I got home from work I took a nap. I set my alarm but must have turned it off without waking up, so I woke up at 12:44. I have to leave at 12:45 to catch the bus. I left 2 minutes late but made it ok. There was a guy across the aisle from me who had silver brass knuckles attached to his coat shoulder...it was weird. Also, pet peeve, people who spell weird wrong.
Class was fairly boring. It was a discussion of pandemics and whether or not the global community is set to deal with one. I say no. Even the WHO article that said, "Yes, we are prepared," said that only developed countries are prepared and there's pretty much no way to stop disease spread before it becomes a full blown pandemic. Of course, who cares about the people in developing countries where the pandemics are likely to start?
Took the bus home, listened to 2 very stupid women talk about all the 'miracles' in their lives recently, such as going on a date (just one), dropping a class and using that money to buy a car (...), and something else equally un-miracle-y. Then the one who bought the car was talking about how she's hoping to get her license next week. She went driving yesterday and it wasn't too hard, she ran over the median and hit the curb a bunch but "that's no big deal". And THIS is why I hate driving in Spokane. People without a license driving about unconcerned that they have NO CLUE WHAT THEY'RE DOING. Also, she said she's been kicked out of 3 classes for "spiritual reasons". ...what the fuck does that even mean? My best guess is that she took a class on evolution or something and spent the whole time saying how it's not true or something. She's also working on making the life of professor of the class she dropped "a living hell", then went into great detail on how.
Also, abstinence only is even more fail than I thought.

Alright...I've been up for almost 20 hours at this point. Bed time for Taylor.
