Welcomed to the Pod (Part 1)
Storvik had quite the event on Saturday, September 25.
The weather was GORGEOUS, with clear blue skies and PERFECT temperatures. I arrived on site in plenty of time to set up my chair on the field in front of the Royal pavilion, where the morning courts would be held. Another Sunday, August 29
What I think of when I awaken on August 29, especially when it falls on a Sunday, as it did today and in 1982.
Back then, Ingrid Bergman died on the same day as my father. This year, Ed Asner -- the "Lou Grant" of my youth -- passed away today. And of course it makes nine years since my astronomer friend Andrea's father died. She and I are two only ( Read more... ) -
For that it is Spring...
Today the SCA is 55 years old. NOT 56 years old -- today is the first day of Anno Societatis LVI, or in other words, the Society is beginning its 56th year of existence. It's come a long way from that very first "international tournament."
And tomorrow is the 40th birthday of the Kingdom of Atlantia! Huzzah and Vivat!!

I was going to write a longer post, but around 10 p.m. R. called (for the first time in eight or nine days) and the conversation lasted 45 minutes. Opening Day, not so much.
Both of my favorite Major League Baseball teams had their Opening Day games postponed today -- the Red Sox for rain up in Boston, the Nationals for several covid-19 positive tests. Boston will play tomorrow, but who knows about Washington?
I am still feeling no effects from the first Pfizer jab. However, I have a slight bruise from the blood test at ( Read more... )
