When I was a kid, my parents shelled out a bunch of money so I could have braces. After all the pain and suffering and talking my parents into letting me have milkshakes for dinner after the appointments, the orthodontist also put a permanent retainer on my bottom teeth. It's really just a wire attached at two points, that pushes against the teeth to keep them all straight. Today, I got a teeny tiny piece of granola stuck under it and tried to push it free with a fingernail and all of a sudden one end of the wire comes free. So now I have a wire poking me in the mouth, because of course the other end doesn't come free. And, of course, my dentist is on vacation. So I got the number of the dentist who is covering for her and he said he could take out the wire tomorrow. Until then I look like a victim of a very weird piecing accident when I smile, so forgive me if I don't.
It's just been a really, really, really weird two weeks....
