we used to think we were number one, but now it seems so far away

Okay, first off, I have two vid recs.  One for my fellow Fringies, and one for my fellow Whovians.  And if you like both, well then you can view both, haha.  Anyway, my good friend quirkyoppossum has been really prolific as of late, given that she has a broken ankle and can't go anywhere or do much of anything.  So, she's been vidding up the wazoo in addition to checking out new telly series I've recced to her, and catching up on programmes we love that she's fallen behind on.

In the last week, she's made 3 vids.  One of which was made specifically for me and can be viewed in my previous post.  Then, when I went to her house on Saturday we made another one (after we saw Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World with ramblingmonk .  That was *such* an awesome film!).  That particular vid we did for Torchwood--a Jack/Gwen vid for our mutual close friend jack_is_love17  set to Queen's Love of My Life.  It is, therefore, very bitter sweet.  It was only a second attempt at a collab that my friend and I have done (the other being a super multifandom vid to Skillet's Yours to Hold.  It included the fandoms of: The Devil's Whore, Doctor Who (9 and 10 era), Torchwood, Fringe, Joan of Arcadia, Chuck, The Office, Dollhouse, Legend of the Seeker).  We know that Jack/Ianto is the main love of the fandom, and we have a great respect for that canonical relationship as well (cos we adored Ianto as much as anyone else did), but our friend is a HUGE Jack/Gwen shipper.  And my friend had never done a pure Torchwood video before.  She had used clips of Torchwood, but had always paired it with Doctor Who.  But, if you like Jack and Gwen together, or just have a huge appreciation for the relationship between their characters (even if you only saw them as friends), please check it out and let her (or I) know what you think.

Her other vid that she completed just today was done for Fringe's episode Brown Betty.  From the second she saw it, she wanted to pay homage to it (because she loved the episode quite a bit).  I suggested Gene Wilder singing Pure Imagination from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (half because I thought it fitting, and half cos Walter singing The Candyman Can put me in a Willy Wonka mood).  It worked AMAZINGLY well.  She and I originally thought it would turn out crack!tastic, but it almost had a very serious feel to it.  And she did wonderful things with the colouring.  It made me all nostalgic and fed my craving for more Fringiness/PeterandOlivia loving (which are pretty much the same thing really).

Now, she's working on a Covert Affairs vid.  Not going to lie, I am MUCHO excited (cos I'm in love with this totally new series).

Now, the reason I've been pimping her out so much lately is cos she won't do it herself. *grumbles* And I feel like her awesomeness should be shared more with the world. So please, visit her LJ or her youtube account (which is the same name) and let her know how amazing she is. Cos she refuses to listen to me, and this is becoming an insanely recurring argument.

And now for something completely unrelated:

THE SCISSOR SISTERS CONCERT WAS EPIC AND AMAZING. The band looked gorgeous, what with Jake Shears and his blue and white camouflage pants and no shirt with suspenders. And Ana "Matronic" Lynch's skintight leather dress with 3 inch heels. They were both grinding against their microphone stands and at one point (during Filthy/Gorgeous) Ana actually put the entire ball of the microphone into her mouth and then proceeded to mime the finger in hole of fingers motion to simulate having sex using her microphone.

They were also the first openly gay band to play the Daughters of the American Revolution Constitutional Hall in Washington, DC. I felt quite proud to be part of such an epic event. I may have been one of only two straight people there--the other being my friend jack_is_love17 , who accompanied me to the event--but, I loved every single second of it.  During "I Don't Feel Like Dancing" there literally was not a single person NOT dancing in the joint.  And I thoroughly enjoyed watching Jake Shears (the lead male singer) doing his sexy dance during the naughty numbers.  And Ana dancing in 3 inch heels and then proceeding to run in them during "Running Out" was somewhat mouth-watering to watch.  If I hadn't already had a girl-crush on her before the concert, I would now.  It's not based on her looks (like it is with Tabrett Bethell and Eliza Dushku), but on the sheer openness she has about sexuality and her amazing talent...and the fact that she can run and dance in heels.  I have immense respect for that.

I know my Whovian friends will be disappointed, but they did not perform "I Can't Decide."  On the whole though, I loved every single second of that 2 hour concert.  It ended with a three song encore--Comfortably Numb followed by Invisible Light.  And then the final number was the wonderful Filthy/Gorgeous, which is their song homage to the revelers of the kink, and one of my all-time favourite Scissor Sisters numbers.  Jake Shears COMPLETELY stripped down to that song til he was wearing nothing but skintight pants (think Freddie Mercury) that were buttless and a strap on dildo in the front that he made flop as much as possible by jumping up and down across the stage.  He then proceeded to rip off Ana's top and she sang with her bra barely covering her breasts.

Seriously, you guys.  LOVE SO MUCH.  One of the best birthday presents for my parents ever.  (I would say it's the best one, but I doubt anything could beat Billy Joel).

lolz, vid rec, fringe science is the best science ever, real life, peter/olivia, torchwood, sex, concerts, squeeage
