Tags The charity auction and ball goes well into the early hours of Saturday morning, though not everyone stays quite that late; Jamie and Josh leaving before midnight while Tara and Amy are obligated to stay until the end. By that point, the parking lot is nearly empty and the ballroom and lounge areas need to be picked up. Thankfully the dining halls were cleaned already, so there isn’t much that needs to be done. Fortunately they have additional volunteers, A.J, Christy and Evan amongst them. Still, they try not to stay too late since they do have plans to go to Midnight Bowling the following day; Evan extending an invitation to Christy and A.J.
Tara also persuades her brother to stay at the apartment, arguing that she’s closer and it’ll be easier for him instead of driving back to his own apartment.
The following morning they meet with Jamie, Josh and Chris for brunch though Evan heads back to his apartment first so he can shower and change.
“We’ll just start with coffee, thanks honey,” Tara informs their waiter as they set the menus in the center of the table. “Evan said that it wouldn’t take him too long and I think ‘Lex should be joining as well.”
“He said he would be here,” Josh put in, the blonde male checking his text messages. “And I confirmed with him before we left.”
Amy bounced Chris on her knee rhythmically, “we’re waiting for Evan anyway, so not a big deal if we’re waiting for ‘Lex too. Hopefully we aren’t waiting long though, for either of them.”
Jamie nodded, manicured nails tapping against the table, “have you heard from Phil lately?”
The redhead nodded, “he texted me last night after we got back to Tara’s place. His cousins are flying in from Chicago and he wanted to know if it was okay if they stayed at the house.” Shrugging, she continued, “I told him that it really wasn’t a big deal.”
Tara arched an eyebrow, “which cousins are coming and how long are they staying?”
Amy shrugged again, “I’m not sure how long they’re staying but he said it was only Angie and Colt.”
“Sorry I’m late,” Evan apologized as he joined them, sitting between Tara and Amy. “I had to send directions to Alex… apparently, he took a little side trip Gainesville after the charity ball.”
Amy looked amused, “Gainesville? This is going to be an interesting story, I’m sure.”
“Knowing Alex,” Tara said and rolled her eyes, handing a menu to her brother. “Then maybe we should just start ordering? We don’t have to order individual meals, anyway.”
“He claimed he would be here within half an hour.”
Josh shook his head, “even though it takes almost an hour to get to Athens from Gainesville? If he gets a speeding ticket, I’m not paying for it.”
Amy snorted softly, “He has more to worry about than just a speeding ticket. His car is late on inspection and it’s missing a taillight.” Switching Chris to her other knee, she added, “but I’m sure he’ll manage something, he always does.”
After agreeing that Alex would join them when he got there, they did end up ordering. And as planned, they ordered family sized dishes instead of individual ones, Amy eventually placing Chris in the provided high chair.
