After she’s found a coffee shop, Amy calls Evan to make sure that he and his parents are safely out of New Orleans. The redhead also wants to get a firsthand account of the city in terms of infestation and survivors. There’s only so much that she can find out from the message boards and networks that she belongs to, Amy hoping to get a better idea of what they’re up against. After speaking to Evan, Amy picks up coffee and pastries to-go; the redhead hoping to get back on the road so they can meet with Alex, Punk and Josh in Detroit.

Amy is precariously balancing the cardboard tray in one hand, bag of pastries held between her teeth; the redhead nearly losing everything as she walks into the hotel room to be greeted with the sight of a towel-clad Dean walking out of the bathroom.

And it’s not as if she hasn’t seen a half-naked male or one that’s just walking out of the shower. It’s not as if she hasn’t seen Dean in this state of undress (or less, for that matter).

But it has been awhile.

And long enough that it takes her a moment to compose herself and shut the door, the redhead setting the tray of coffees and the bag of pastries on the table. Amy just manages to catch the hint of mischief in Dean’s green eyes before he ducks back into the bathroom.

A few minutes later, Dean is dressed and they’re joined by Jamie and Sam; Amy also passing on the information she received from Evan.

“Is he going to meet us in Detroit?” Jamie asks, genuinely curious. “I’m just wondering.”

“Probably not but I gave him an address anyway in case he changes his mind,” Amy replied, after swallowing down a bite of muffin. “His parents are talking about heading overseas though, maybe to Japan… or Australia. Finally do some sightseeing.”

“That’s good,” Sam said in a serious tone, his laptop already opened. “In fact, the farther away from the states they can get… the better. And the sooner the better, for that matter, it’s not safe.”

Dean rolled his eyes, “would you stop being such a Debbie Downer? In case you’ve forgotten, Sammy, zombies don’t run fast. It doesn’t take that much to take one down, anyway.”

Sam shook his head, “that’s not the point, Dean. The point is to limit human causalities, not to outrun zombies.” Tentatively, he slid his gaze to Jamie, “I still think that you and Amy should also leave.”

Jamie pressed her lips together, “I appreciate your concern, Sam but if Amy stays, I stay.”

Amy was just about to add to her sister’s statement when her cellphone beckoned, the redhead excusing herself so she could take the phone call. “Paulie-"

“Don’t Paulie me, Amy Christine. Where the hell are you and Jamie?”

“Paul… chillax. We’re in Kansas.”

Paul Sky growled under his breath, “if you’re around those two moronic brothers…”

“So what if we are?” Amy rolled her eyes as she imagined the infuriated look on her older brother’s face. “I know that you and Dean don’t exactly get along but-"

“Understatement of the century,” Paul bit out shortly. “I don’t care how long it takes, but you and Jamie are coming home to Michigan and you’re coming home, now.”

Amy sighed, “we’re leaving for Detroit in an hour, okay? I’ll call you from the road.”

Paul clenched his free hand into a fist, “Detroit? Why are you going to Detroit?”

“None of your business, nosy,” Amy said, semi-teasing, “we’ll be safe, okay? Tell mom and dad that we love them and tell them to finally take that trip to South Africa,” after a long moment’s pause, she added, “and you should go with them.”

“I’ll tell mom and dad but I’m not going with them,” Paul replied as calmly as possible. “If you and J insist on going to Detroit then I’m meeting you there. And if you don’t tell me where you’re going, I’ll go house to house with a shotgun and a shovel.”

“Fine… fine, you win.” Amy threaded her free hand through her hair, “I’ll text you the address and we’ll see you there.”

After she had exchanged a few more words, though of a more pleasant nature, Amy ended the conversation with her older brother. Now all she had to do was tell Jamie, the redhead figuring that she should also inform Alex.
