Tags Jamie told Josh that she and Amy were upholding a tradition of a girls' night out with Christy and Trish, the four intending to head out to Detroit for some fun. And while the information wasn’t exactly a lie, it wasn’t exactly the truth either.
Truth was that they were meeting up with Christy and Trish and that they would be in Detroit.
But it wasn’t exactly a girls' night in the traditional sense of speaking.
Otherwise they wouldn’t need the protective headgear and boxing gloves stashed in the trunk of Jamie’s car.
Thankfully the guys seemed to accept that answer, Josh and Alex digging into the take-out that they had ordered just as Amy and Jamie were leaving. Or at least, that’s what they had appeared to be doing, Alex waiting until Jamie and Amy had exited the house before he stuck a fork into the take-out carton.
“They never said we couldn’t follow.”
Josh was already reaching for his car keys, “already ahead of you, Alex.”
Alex grabbed another take-out carton, the two men exiting through the garage just as Amy and Jamie had. Since they knew that the two women were heading to Detroit, they could at least take a general guess as to the route that they would take.
Meanwhile, Amy called London to get the line-up for that evening, informing Jamie that she would be fighting against Jessica, known on the circuit as ODB, while Amy would be fighting with Joanie, known on the circuit as Chyna.
Jamie gripped the steering wheel a little more tightly, “Jess cheats,” the blonde woman said after a long moment. “You know it, I know it, London knows it… everyone in the damn locker room knows it.”
Amy cracked her knuckles after she had put her phone away, “she’s also disrespectful as all hell.”
Jamie nodded, fully recalling how Jessica had outright slapped her when she’d tried to introduce herself on the first night that she’d arrived to the old gym where the fights took place. Since then, Jamie had gone out of her way to avoid Jessica, wanting to prevent any unnecessary conflict with the outspoken, in your face, woman.
The two women remained silent until they had reached their destination, never realizing that Alex and Josh were following at a comfortable distance, the two men killing the headlights when they reached the parking lot to avoid being spotted.
Alex swallowed down a large bite of food, “I thought they shut this place down?”
Josh shrugged, leaning one arm against the car door, “apparently not if Amy and Jamie are going in there.”
“Looks like Amy’s grabbing something,” Alex nodded towards the two females, “I can’t see what they are though.”
“Only one way to find out,” Josh reasoned, digging into the second take-out carton as if it were his last meal.
Once Amy and Jamie were inside, they headed towards the locker room to get ready, Amy taping her hands and wrists before putting her gloves on; handing the tape off to Jamie so the blonde woman could prepare as well. As usual, they kept to themselves until Trish and Christy arrived, Christy also preparing for a match while Trish would be assisting with time keeping.
Jamie shook out her arms, lightly shifting from side to side before she started to warm-up with the punching bag in the gym. Nearby, Amy was beginning her usual reps of kicks; the redhead’s feet bare though her ankles were taped in a similar fashion as her hands and wrists.
The underground fighting ring was another reason that Amy had started Muay Thai training, the redhead wanting to expand a bit on the circuit by adding another fighting style to her repertoire.
Josh and Alex, meanwhile, had purchased tickets, grabbed a printed flyer and then headed towards the upper bleachers, attempting to blend in with the usual crowd.
