Amy and Jamie share a home in Livonia with one of the bartenders, Mickie James; though Mickie is mostly unaware as to what Amy and Jamie do in their free time. And for Mickie’s safety, Amy and Jamie intend to keep it that way. Right now, however, Mickie is on vacation with her boyfriend Eric and won’t be home until Sunday afternoon.
Still, shortly before 3:00 a.m., they arrive home, Jamie nearly tripping over one of the cats as they walk in from the garage.
“I am so glad to be home,” Jamie said as she sunk down onto the sectional sofa in the living room.
Amy hummed her agreement, the redhead picking up the mail from the floor, scowling when she recognized one of the envelopes. “Damn it, I thought I had paid that.”
Jamie arched an eyebrow, “paid what?”
“A parking ticket,” Amy held up the envelope in question, “well, to be more accurate a speeding ticket, even though I really wasn’t going that fast.”
“That’s because your definition of fast really doesn’t match their definition of fast.”
“Obviously,” Amy raked a hand through her hair, setting the envelope on the kitchen counter. “You want anything?”
Jamie shook her head, “no thanks. I’m good for now. Just not tired, yet,” she reached for the remote. “Let’s see if there’s anything decent on.”
While Amy rooted around in the fridge, Jamie flipped through the channels…. Two familiar faces soon appearing on the screen.
“Desperately seeking your Susan? Thinking that your husband might be hiding a little something-something?”
“Ames, come here, you have got to see this.”
“When you can’t pick up what someone else is laying down, then you need to call Eye Spy.”
“That’s right Chris. For the low price of $699.69 per hour, you can hire Eye Spy for all of your investigative needs.”
“A down payment of 75% is due at the time of contract and additional fees may apply depending on your case.”
Amy rolled her eyes, “those two are unbelievable. Bounty Hunters, Private Investigators… what’s next?”
Jamie snickered, “let’s not forget that they’ve tried to be electricians, plumbers, face painting…”
The redhead laughed, “Don’t remind me. I think they also tried pet bathing at some point.”
“They really should just quit while they’re ahead.”
“You mean Josh should get his act together,” Amy speculated and sat down on the couch with her friend. “You know that we’re bound to run into them if they’re in the area. Why don’t you talk to Josh?”
“Because, I’ll just get the same story that I get every time… he’s not ready for a relationship, he can’t abandon his heterosexual life partner…” Jamie sighed, “Heaven forbid I should break up their epic bromance.”
Amy gave her a one-armed hug, “they have to grow up sometime,” and at Jamie’s skeptical look, the redhead clarified, “and between the two of them, I’d put my money on Josh.”
Jamie shrugged, “I guess, I don’t know, maybe I should move on.”
“You know you don’t mean that, J.”
Jamie is about to reply when a noise outside catches their attention, “must be a raccoon or something.”
“Probably,” Amy agrees, going to the hallway closet to grab a baseball bat, “but there’s no reason that we shouldn’t be prepared.”
“Agreed,” Jamie grabbed a pair of brass knuckles from the side-table, the two women heading to the porch door and side door leading to the garage.
Amy has readied her weapon when there’s a rapid succession of knocks at the glass door, the redhead finding herself face to face with Alex and Chris.
