Tone Factory Recording Studio, Las Vegas, Nevada

The two bands head to one of the conference rooms in stony silence, waiting until they’ve all arrived before making the rest of the introductions. Never mind the fact that Amy wasn’t speaking to Trish and the aforementioned redhead had already, accidentally on purpose, slammed the door shut in Chris’ face…

Lilian cleared her throat, determined to play peacemaker. “So, Trish? What can you tell us about this project?”

Trish smiled hesitantly, “Well, it’s like I had told you all earlier… the plan is to do a concept album, two discs, and if all goes well, we’ll include a DVD of music videos to make it like a movie.” Regaining her confidence, the blonde woman continued, “and that’s why we’re all gathered here. Separately, we wouldn’t have the necessary personnel.”

Christy whistled, “That’s pretty epic… and huge. Double disc, so we’re looking at twenty eight tracks…”

Chris snorted, “Or, if we incorporate some good rifts, we could just do twelve tracks each.”

The younger redhead glared, “well yeah, but that’s still a lot. Plus, having to come up with the basic concept and locations for the music videos?”

Alex leaned back in his chair, “speaking of the basic concept… any ideas?”

Jay exchanged a look with Trish, “we were considering a romance.”

“Surely, you must be joking,” Chris scoffed, “a romance? That’s so trite and cliché and…”

“Perfectly realistic for a concept album,” Amy interrupted shortly. “Romance doesn’t have to be the forefront but it could be the backstory… for example, if we chronicle the lives of four people, best friends, growing up, experiencing everything together.” Drumming the fingers of her right hand on the table, she continued, “Love found, love lost… just because one couple stayed together doesn’t mean that the other has to.” As she said the last part, hazel eyes inadvertently caught Chris’ blue. “Right, Irvine?”

“So, are we all contributing as far as lyrics go?” Josh questioned and then thumbed to his cousin, “we usually handle songwriting for the Saints.”

“Right, so we can let this take on a more punk-rock vibe?” Chris grumbled, “No thank you.”

Across the table, Punk arched an eyebrow, “what’s your deal with punk-rock?”

“Not every song has to be punk-rock anyway, if we’re doing a concept album it might help to have at least one ballad. Plus, if we’re working with anything orchestral we could do some instrumental stuff and the acoustic tracks…” Amy trailed off, finally looking over to Trish, “right? I’m guessing that’s what you had in mind.”

“More or less,” Trish agrees with a hopeful smile to her best friend, “does that mean you’re in?”

A challenging look sent to Chris, Amy replied to Trish, “yup. And I’ll even find us the space to rehearse and write.”

“With you on board the project is going to fail,” Chris surmised as he held her gaze, “I’m in.”

It was decided that Christy, Amy, Daniels, Alex, and Josh would be in charge of writing lyrics and composing; Amy also deciding to put herself in charge of any instrumental work. Final approval of any finished songs would need to go to all members of the respective bands.

Later, at the hotel, Christy found herself seated on her sister’s bed, waiting so they could join everyone else for a night out. “So, how do you know that Punk guy and why was he calling you Lita?”

Amy smirked slightly, “that would be from the time I was overseas… aside from being there to study, I checked out the local scene. At the same time, Punk was backpacking through Europe. We clicked.” Shrugging, she added, “I’m really not sure how the Lita thing started.”

“And are you really okay with working with Irvine, again?”

“No,” Amy admitted easily, “but that doesn’t mean I’m going to back down, either.”

Christy wasn’t expecting otherwise but said nothing, the two exiting the hotel room shortly so they could meet with everyone else in the lobby.
