Goodness! This isn't an April shower, it's an April monsoon! Complete with fireworks and boomy things that wake one up in the middle of the night and make one sleepy and silly all day.

Goodness! Generally I like a little bit of buildup to my winter; I love snow in December, but maybe not 22 cm of it at a time, as our first major snowfall.

In related news, my brand new coat and boots performed admirably, and I was toasty and dry all the way home.

I refuse to accept that the white stuff falling outside for the past two days is snow. It's... goose down, that's what it is. A bunch of Canada Geese flew by and molted. This has been the sort of day where we could go out in spring clothes and enjoy the warmth and sunshine and feel triumphant that we have once again survived an Ottawa winter.

I heard Canada geese this evening! Canada geese! Spring is coming!

This is the kind of Ottawa winter day where you mutter to yourself that humans are *not* meant to live in this type of weather.

Typical Ottawa weather forecast: 10-15 cm of snow in the next 24 hours, followed by 15 degrees on Friday.

It was a dark and blah day but still I wasn't prepared for the blast of icy, wet wind that hit me as I left the building after work. Winter, chuckling evilly as it prepares to hold us siege for the next few months.

All the thunderstorms that have been forecasted over the past few weeks that never came all came at once this afternoon, one right after the other. I have one unhappy puppy.
