In shocking accordance with the plan, editing has been going really well since I got back from vacation. I've made good progress this week, and I've solved several plot and pacing problems. I've probably introduced some others in the process, but ah well. The main thing is, I'm feeling great about The Overworld again after my break, and it seems imaginable that someday I'll finish editing it.
I went running twice this week, and I'm back to doing two miles without feeling like my ass has been kicked, so that's another good thing. I'm reading an interesting book and working on a cool knitting project, and eventually I'll get around to talking about those topics in detail again.
As I write this, I'm enjoying the latest They Might Be Giants album, The Else, for the first time.
And tonight -- TONIGHT! -- is of course the release of the final Harry Potter book.
I'm going to a book release party at
Leigh's Favorite Books in Sunnyvale with
laurenhat and hopefully a couple other friends, and later I'll post photos of our costumes. Whenever I emerge from the cave I'll be hiding in until I finish reading.
Actually, I have a bunch of plans for the weekend, so I won't really be in a cave. And I'm a slow reader, plus I generally prefer not reading a book in a single sitting so that I have time to think about what's happening and where the story might be going. So it will most likely be several days before I'm done.
To everyone who's excited along with me, I wish you a wonderful and spoiler-free reading experience. To everyone who isn't, please be patient with us in our obsession for a little while longer.
