For the past week, I've been actually editing: revising, adding, deleting, and so on. I'm feeling good about how the second draft is coming along so far, and the process is moving pretty smoothly overall. The work I did last month on big picture restructuring was well worth the investment of time and index cards; it's helping a lot to have a very clear understanding of the shape of the second draft.
I've been running for two weeks now, and I'm amazed by my progress. I'm only up to running for 90 seconds at a time, but today I did that 6 times in 20 minutes, and it felt so much easier than a week ago when the runs were in intervals of 60 seconds. I'm feeling optimistic about the idea of doing runs that can be measured in minutes, or even in miles.
Tomorrow morning, I'm having gum surgery. I can't tell you how thrilled I am, because I'm not. But the gum around one of my canines is problematic, and the periodontist says if it's not treated, I might lose the tooth, so enduring some surgery seems worthwhile. I will be unconscious during the procedure, which I'm very glad of. It's supposed to be not too big a deal, less major than wisdom teeth extraction (which I survived just fine almost half my life ago), and I expect to be feeling okay by Sunday. I'll report back on how it goes.
