American Idol
God, last night's results were depressing as hell. I've never been a fan of Phil, but I thought he left the show in a really classy way. And Chris...sigh, knew he was going but putting him and Blake together in the end like that was twisting the knife. Fucking manipulative AI producers. Cake 4ever!
I thought the rest of the show was a joke. Did we really need a recap of last week's two hour charity thing? Sitting through it once was quite enough, thank you. I'm also miffed that we didn't get a group performance this week.
Blake FTFW!
His performance this week was incredible. It had exactly what I look for in contestants on this show, the ability to stand out. I am SO SICK of the "powerhouse" voices winning this competition. To me, being able to do a bunch of runs and then holding a long, dramatic note at the very end does not a good singer make. I would never buy one of those albums. I HATE those kinds of singers. I much prefer contestants who are comfortable with themselves, their style, and are willing to bring something different to a show that has, let's face it, gotten a little repetitive over the years with their final contestants (lots of gospel/powerhouse voices, the pink hair rocker, the country girl, the r&b guy, the one who shouldn't be there, etc.).
I'm changing my tune from last time and hope that Laskisha or Jordin (who I'm beginning to REALLY dislike) is cut next week so that we get a Melinda/Blake finale.
Disco night next week? Ugh, this is my least favorite theme after country. :/
Veronica Mars
I feel so apathetic towards this show these days. I can't even remember what happened in this episode.
Oh wait, I distinctly remember a big ol' cheese cake. *Facepalm.* That was just fucking painful to watch. The existence of the cake was bad enough, but then Veronica getting the slice with Logan's face? Ugh. I adored the Logan/Veronica relationship in season one, but if this is how the writers want to portray them now, forget it. Let Piz have her, I could really care less about the romances on this show at this point. There are much bigger issues with this show that need to be taken care of, IMO. If Rob & co. really want Piz to be in the spotlight, fine. I've yet to be impressed by him but maybe something will spark my interest soon.
The mystery this week was lame, and I really agree with TWoP when they called it the "Poor Man's Crash." The fake ID thing was equally disappointing, especially since Veronica only got a slap on the wrist for it. I also didn't go for the over dramatic "you're all fired" thing at the sheriff's department. Then again, I just don't go for the whole "Keith as sheriff" thing. R.I.P. Lamb. :(
Also, I know everyone got a kick out of the season 1 references, but all they did was annoy me and remind yet again what was missing from this show.
LOST
While Veronica Mars continues to disappoint me, LOST is really starting to get back to business.
I LOVED this episode. A lot of the stuff that was revealed has been obvious to fans for a while, but it didn't make anything less exciting. Josh knocked this one out of the park; his face when the real Sawyer tears up that letter? aklsjdflsdkjfsldkjf! Give that man a shiny award, dammit!
Kate is a dumbass for going to Jack right away, but I guess I can understand where she's coming from. Sort of. :/
I'm really curious as to where they're going with the whole "everyone is dead" thing. Obviously that's not The Answer, but with all the references to the island being hell this week...I just don't know.
Next week's looks great and WTF-worthy. My favorite! Yay! :D
