I'm so tired of dealing with reality.

The world news is awful enough, and I have seen it coming for a very, very long time. We are cushioned from the worst of it where we live, and this is by design of course. Everyone's 401K is down by at least 20%-- if you're typical, that is. NASDAQ, where all the tech stocks hang out, is down by 28%. (I'm guessing the chip shortage is hammering them!) Crypto currency is collapsing outright... There are signs all over the place I can think of just off the top of my head. When Cat's company made the decision the first week of March to have everyone work from home, they also made 2 more decisons: they laid off one person and made everyone else take a 15% pay cut. They applied for and managed to get the Payrole Protection money (which requires that they keep employees) by laying off the one guy right before signing up ( Read more... )

Keeping what I wrote yesterday in mind, I'm trying to stay ahead of things on the ground. Important things include:

~ Having a home with enough land to keep a few livestock and do gardens every year. CHECK
