Last Friday we got the results that the bathroom tile does not have asbestos.
The adjuster came out today and told us about our options.
Here's the thing:
There are some water damaged boards in a couple of places. But it's long term damage and State Farms won't fix that. Clay and I would be responsible for it. We can have contractors out to fix the drywall, the carpet and the tile in the bathroom, but we have to fix the walls first. Also, they will put down the same quality of carpet and tile that was there before. Which means that the carpet we wanted to replace would be replaced but perhaps not by the kind of stuff we would want in the long run.
Our other option is to say that we want to do it. They would give us the money for us to get contractors or what not and we can decide to do it ourselves and use the money saved on labor to get better material.
It's a lot of work and while Clay and I are pretty knowledgeable about this stuff, it's still a bit overwhelming.
*deep breath*
So... lots to think through.
