The final episode of Dr Ten just aired here. Anyone want to talk to me about the loveliness that is RTD?

I cried huge tears over this episode.

Thank God RTD isn't cowlip. At least Rose didn't head off with a 'Cya then Doctor, I'm gonna work for Torchwood."

I knew what was coming from the very first of Season 2. I was spoiled prior to even watching S1. That’s the problem with having a spoiled flist, you know everything ( ... )

RTD is brilliant.

Yep. As I've said before, this show is "Scenes We'd Like to See" from the world of fanfic. Someone who can do it better than the original writers has been given open slather, and the results are thrilling.

I know that some people wanted a kiss or for the Doctor to actually say the words but I’m not sure that would have had the same impact.I agree, it wouldn't. But the other thing is, hasn't the Doctor always reminded you of Stuart/Brian? He's desirable, he offers a sense of adventure nobody else in your world does, and yet he's unattainable on several levels. And Stuart Alan Jones doesn't say "I love you". I mean, my (completely unfounded except for his writing) feeling is that there is a SAJ in RTD's past, and he keeps immortalising him in a form he knows is idealised ( ... )

He also had to consider whether he's going to write the Doctor as always pining for Rose in the future, or whether he's going to allow him to connect with another companion. Not that the Doctor has usually had a romantic connection with his companions, but then the demographic for RTD's series has shifted much more adult than for the original. (The original demographic - geeky pubescent boys - was probably bothered about "girl germs", if not actually gay.)I don't think the Doctor will pine for Rose. Ten doesn't do that but he will feel guilty over losing Rose. The Doctor does do guilt especially where Rose is concerned. Have you listened to the commentary for Doomsday? RTD essentially says that the events of Doomsday are the Doctor's fault. The void ship arrives on Earth looking for a time traveller, and well, that would be the Doctor and/or his companions. In effect, the Doctor loses Rose due to his own actions. RTD says that he decided not to put this in the Doomsday script because it would have been too much guilt but he figures ( ... )

I'm not, however, prepared for a Doctor that falls in love with every companion he meets. That'd be a cowlippian thing to do and not very RTD :)

Absolutely. I mean, have you seen his Casanova? It was like he was saying to CL - No, you idiots, this is how you do an OTP!

I think I heard that Jack might be in Season 3 (towards the end) as a tie in for Torchwood. That should be interesting. But Torchwood is starting well before that, isn't it? God knows where he'll have developed his mythology to by the time he ties them back together ( ... )

Did anyone else really, truly think that when Rose said, "I'll never see you again!" the Doctor would reply, "You can see me in your dreams"? I swear, I did!

*giggles*

I cried and cried and cried some more. I think I cried more for Nine's exit though.

The only bad part about this whole thing is that I figured out what was going to happen as soon as I read that Billie was leaving the show. RTD said he wasn't going to kill her. Then we find out that Pete and Mickey are gonna be in the last ep. Oh, and that Jackie was going to be traveling with Rose and the Doctor. They gave it away.

I knew Billie was leaving since the end of the last series, but I just stayed away from spoilers, so I didn't know anything ahead. I don't like to spoil the really good ones.

I totally did! And I've only seen 1 or 2 episodes of the show, but I flicked over the other day and caught the end of the episode. It was so good! I need to catch up on it all now, great ending. I can imagine it would have been even more satisfying for fans.

Make sure you go back to the start of the last series (the Christopher Eccleston one). You need that to get the full impact of the Doctor/Rose, and also, "Father's Day" is a wonderful, wonderful episode.

I'm glad other QAF fans had the same thought I did. "Dreams" was, of course, an RTD line that Cowlip swiped.

Dr. Who came on after Battlestar Gallactica, which I am completely hooked on after watching the S3 onset.

Dr. Who - I really liked it! Love the character, witty dialog, the girl's totally cute and smart, love her. I'm not sure of the episode you mention, but I plan to keep my eyes open for others (it follows BG on Fri nights, so that works for me!).

I was amused that RTD has learned to import the shows DIRECTLY to the U.S.

Hee!

Amused and relieved, no doubt! "Doomsday" is the last episode of the most recent series.

I hope you, too, are watching from the start of RTD's reign, ie the Eccleston series. I forgot to say - wait till you meet Captain Jack. Ho-yay va-voom!

The SciFi channel owns me on Friday nights. Battlestar Galactica!

I've already seen all of Dr. Who but it's worth watching for, oh, the 25th time :) I want a sonic screwdriver.

No kidding. I shudder to think of Dr. Who in the hands of C/L. The TARDIS would be Mikey, all whiney and shit.

We all knew that without being told, sweetie.

Surely Bill is enthusiastically trying to pinch invent one? He's gotta be a Doctor geek.
