If ever I feel down because some sports event doesn't go as I would have liked it, I'm going to remind myself of last night's penalty shoot-out. And maybe re-watch it. And I know I'll feel better.

That's what happens when you forget all about rule #1 for playing in international championships.

*sigh*

Lucien Favre became Borussia's coach on 14 February 2011.

For the past 12 months he has been working wonders with my favourite team. Yes, wonders. There's no other word for it. Even thinking about it brings tears of joy to my eyes - yeah, I'm as sappy as that.

He's my hero.

1. Roger Federer does not win by default. The horror!

2. All that moaning and groaning of the players makes me want to throw things at the tv. This was unheard-of until the mid-eighties, iirc. Then some pupils of the Nick Bollettieri school of tennis started this annoying trend. Blergh.

Germany will be playing the Netherlands, Denmark, and Portugal in the group stages of the Euro 2012.

While it was a lovely surprise to see Marco van Basten involved in the draw (he's always a pleasure to look at - yay for high definition tv!), I think he could have done it So Much Better.

Did anyone follow the first round results in Wimbledon?

Because there is this one match, between Nicolas Mahut (FRA) and John Isner (USA). They started playing yesterday, played on today - and will continue tomorrow.

(Apparently there hasn't been any service break since the second set!)
