moving the furniture around

The subject must not be aware of any influence. Oh Hannibal. So endlessly clever with your Will. Poor broken Will.

Is it weird to say that I love the way they stage their violence on this show? Instead of showing the guy in white getting killed, they just show blood saturating it in what could very easily not actually be an act of violence. It could've just been in the guy's head. They're very good at creating an environment where we can convince ourselves that what we know is happening isn't really happening. At least for a little while.

"Somebody got inside his head and moved all the furniture around." Oh parallels. Even though I know it's part of the game, I love Hannibal's declaration that he's Will's gauge. Because Will believes it. He's trusting and relying on this person that he doesn't have any real reason to. But then, in a way, they're both filling a need for the other. They give each other the illusion of a friend. It makes each look more human.

The other thing I love about Hannibal's declaration's that he's Will's guy is the way they mirror Jack's, but Jack doesn't get the trust Hannibal gets. The show still frames Jack as somehow sinister and Hannibal as the hero, of sorts. So the show kind of mirrors Will's thoughts, I guess. So endlessly clever, this show.

I'm becoming increasingly fond of Will's sad courtship of Bloom. He wants that comfort so much, you can almost see him just aching for it, but he just can't have it. Yet.

So Will brings Abel to Hannibal to find out if he's real. Oh Will. That begging for Hannibal to not lie to him. And then he just leaves him there, in his sort of stasis. Yeah, the severely messed up power dynamic is still doing it for me. Apparently twisted, broken boys playing at friendship are my thing now. It's obsessive and possessive and manipulative and so many kinds of wrong. I just love it. Especially when Hannibal insists to his therapist that he does prefer the man to the madness. I still think he believes that. And yet he's still ready to use him to put the FBI off his scent. Make him think he's a killer. I am so glad this show got renewed because it looks like we're in for a doozy of a finale.

Frickin Gillian. Her performance is so haunting. I don't know what is up with her. If she's just in Hannibal's head or what.
