Oh yeah, I passed the drug screening, and I'm gonna go in tomorrow for some paperwork.  Next Monday and Tuesday are my new employee orientation, and I start officially on Wednesday.  Ohmygod I'm so excited!

Alice from Tricore Reference Lab's HR Dept. called today to extend, on behalf of my potential supervisor Margaret, an offer of employment!  I'd be a Molecular Tech, level 1, hours would be full-time M-F 8-4:30, plus on-call later on (which I'm fine with) and pay would be around 16.80-something--I forgot the exact cent.  I'm so excited!  Employment ( Read more... )

 It's been about a week since I got back from Taiwan, Cambodia, and Vietnam.  A month was a pretty good amount of time to spend away from home, but if I had had some friends accompanying me, I probably could've stayed longer.

So at work, I've pretty much been doing the same old procedures over and over: I have to create deletion constructs so that I can inject them into fly embryos and create mutant lines which we use to test potential gene enhancer regions.  I finally got some embryos from some of my established mutant lines and stained them, and I saw that some sites ( Read more... )
