I tried to pick a mixture of songs that embody not only how much Steph's been through, but how she hasn't let it hold her back either. I also stuck to female vocals not only because I tend to prefer them, but because I think it suits the topic better.

That said, I couldn't agree with you more. nu!DC is just so... dark and grim. I just, blegh. Bring back the humor, the levity, the utter joy that is my Batgirl!

I'm not sure how well it'll work, but I have every intention of starting a fic or something about Steph post-batgirl thanks to some inspiration I got off a forum the other day. Because it's time Steph moved away from batfam and started being her own legacy I think. Which is where Nightingale comes into play. I think it's an awesome name for her both in that it has a nod to batfam/the night and I also use it as a Florence Nightingale reference who I also associate with hope. I think it suits her a lot better than the Spoiler identity does. She's moved beyond that now.

That said. I hope you enjoy the mix! I'm not sure about the flow as I just kind of chucked them in a random order since I don't have working speakers on my laptop right now.

Speaking of which let me go burn a cd of this and actually listen to it myself. lol

I think you really succeeded in that. I'm starting to go back in the history of her character, since I loved her so much in the Batgirl title, and I love how much she's developed and grown as a person. Considering how heroes tend to be a gloomy lot, Steph was such a refreshing change.

I'm not into the "dark and grim" myself. One one hand, the reboot is a nice way to get into some titles that I really hadn't had time for, I'd love to look into stuff like the Green Arrow clan and Wonderwoman, but wading through 50something years of backstory is a little too much for me. But, I miss some of the lighter titles and the humor. :/ Batgirl and Batman & Robin were my favorites, and they both got shelved. I sure picked a hell of a time to get into comics! DX

I like that idea, I really think Steph wouldn't go back to the "Spoiler" title, that's the past and she's all about moving forward with things. So I love the idea of Nightingale! I'd totally read that fic whenever you get around to it! ;D

Eh - I tend to have my iTunes on shuffle, so flow isn't entirely too important to me. I'm really looking forward to getting to listen to this! :D

You too? I've been into comics for about three months now, so this whole reboot thing couldn't have hit me at a worse time. Right when I'm getting into it, right when I'm hooked they... go and change all the things I'm hooked on. Couldn't have timed it better if I'd tried. (Thanks Murphy, thanks a lot.)

I'm just not sure where to find the rest of her history. It sounds like it's spread out here, there, and everywhere almost? Which is something that I can't stand. That's why I like nice, steady, solo titles so much... until they do things like "Continued in -completely different series here!- which just annoys me. Why do they do this to me. Why. It's obnoxious.

They are a bunch of brooders for the most part, aren't they? And the reboot seems to be making it worse. As far as the GA clan, I just recently read Green Arrow: Year One and it was surprisingly fantastic. Once again I have the issue of "But where is it? How many random titles am I going to have to find just so I can know about these characters?" with characters I'm interested in like... Roy.

Man I loved Batman & Robin. Say what you want but I enjoyed Dick as Batman. I'm not sure about this going back to Bruce thing and the first issue of nu!Batman and Robin certainly didn't ease that worry. (Like why is Damian acting like that? It's like they regressed him to the beginning again!)

Awwe. Thanks. I tend to be horrible for writing motivation, but I really would like to give this a try. I might start off with a few little drabble type things to see if I can't get something started. I've already got a few ideas rattling around in the old thinkpan.

Well then guess you've got nothing to worry about! I hope you like the songs! (Fireflight is a new music obsession of mine that Pandora radio got me hooked on especially)

I started seriously reading them in about.. December-ish? So it's been a bit longer for me. xD I think you can find a lot of Steph in the Robin title, from what I can gather. I'm pretty sure she was introduced there... But yeah. The main reason I stayed away from comic-fandom for so long is because I HAD NO CLUE WHERE TO START. Everything is so spread out it isn't even funny.

If you want some solo titles I think you'd LOVE "Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane". Which is much better than the title makes it sound. It's upbeat, fun and told entirely from Mary-Jane's viewpoint. I also really enjoyed the Ultimate Spider Man (up until the past ten or so issues), which is pretty much made for people who don't want to wade through backstory.

I'll have to look into the Green Arrow title you mentioned, I like what I've seen in Young Justice, so it's got me curious. Not to mention I kinda loved Roy in "Targets", soo xD.

I loved Dick as Batman too! He and Damian worked SO much better together than Bruce and Damian, he progressed SO MUCH with Dick instead of Bruce and I hate the fact that he's regressing. -grumps forever-.

Well, I'll keep my eye out if you wind up posting it! I'm forever in search of good comics fic.

Fireflight is AWESOME, and, in a similar vein of music, have you heard of Flyleaf? VERY strong female vocalist.

And this is why I tend to stick to solo titles or things I can follow easy enough like Young Justice. Because man, convoluted much? Though the more I get into things the easier it is to tell what's what and what goes where.

....Your timing is funny as I'm currently downloading getting my hands on Mary-Jane and Mary-Jane: Homecoming. Which is pretty fun timing I think.

I've been sticking to DC, but branching out to Marvel considering DC is... beig DC. It's time to view my alternatives darn it. Though so far Marvel is suffering from the "But it's not DC/Doesn't have the DC characters I love :(" thing. Though I was reading an issue of Ms. Marvel yesterday and I had to burst out laughing because her publicist or whatever said something along the lines of "I booked you a hotel room under the name Linda Danvers, because it's not like anyone uses that name" or something like that. Either way it wa obviously this jab at one of DC's versions of Supergirl that I couldn't help but find it funny. (Maybe I'll go find that part later to get the exact quote)

The nu Green Arrow isn't bad, though it's kind of weird because Ollie looks like a scruffy, blonde Roy for some reason. As for where else to get an Arrow fix I really couldn't tell you yet. Though I'd love to find out because I want to read about Lian so bad. :(

I just love Dick. (paijdsf lol) He's a really fun character annd he brought something really interesting to the batcowl. I also have to agree about how he was good for Damian and your grumps over what's going on currently.

You read anything by Pinktala or quipquipquip on Tumblr? They're two of my favorite people to stalk for Stephanie stuff. Quipquipquip being the one who suckered me into shipping older Damian/Stephaniee, the scamp.

I've heard of Flyleaf and while I like some of it there's some I'm not too fond of either. Yelling and I just don't get along.

Young Justice is pretty straightforward. I started reading Teen Titans thinking it would be along those lines and, for the most part, it is, but there's also a WHOLE FRAKKING LOT OF GAPS that I'm not really sure what to do with.

I'm having a hard time finding Marvel characters easy to like. I'm not sure WHAT it is but with the exception of a couple, they all wind up making me kinda grumpy.

-snicker- I love it when I can pick up on take that's that companies do. WOW. I really want to read about Lian's character arc too though. I'd love to see if Young Justice is going to touch on that at all. I somehow doubt it, but I'd love to see how they can/if they can bring Roy's story to a younger audience.

xD That's AWESOME timing. Hehe. You'll like the series, they're very fun and the art is incredibly cute. If you're into animated series, Spectacular Spiderman is very quirky. The art style is hard to get into, (some little ones I watch call him "baby spiderman") but the storyline and sense of humor is fantastic.

And I haven't heard of either person so I'll have to check out their stuff. And I can totally see Steph/older!Damian working. This might be a bad thing.

They did a collab with Apocalyptica that's really good, it's called... Broken Wings, I think? It's worth a listen if only because the music is great. :)

I hate gaps. I hate them so much. After a while I just shrug and move on though. Like with v5 of Supergirl. I got tired of being told to pick up X issue of Superman or Y issue of something else. No. No. No.

I get what you mean. It's kind of weird, but actually digging Marvel characters seems to be harder for some reason? I've got a bunch of stuff I'm going to try so I'll see what happens. I do find Hellcat funny, she's a very tongue in cheek character, but it still falls flat a little.

Well we have Roy. We have Jade/Cheshire. So we have both of Lian's parents in series already. Roy's 18 too so he's even old enough that they could get away with it without teen pregnancy making parents pitch a hissy fit. It'd be beautiful though. I have a friend who rps Roy who's worked Lian into his character for a weird convoluted future thing we've got going on. Then again... we take a lot of liberties for that. Like Jade being Artemis' sister and Artemis was a double agent. Not to mention we snuck in Jason and Sasha too. It's a mess but it's cracky and fun so... yeah.

The art does look pretty gorgeous I'm looking forward to giving it a shot. Spiderman and humor are things that go hand in hand in my opinion so that makes sense.

Start with No Dawn, No Day which was pretty much my gateway drug. It's fantastic. ONE OF US. ONE OF US.

Maybe I'll have to give a look around for it. I do listen to a bunch of stuff like that. I'm also a big fan of groups like Sleepthief.

Getting into comics myself I can suddenly see why people wind up having WHOLE ROOMS full of them because THERE'S JUST SO MUCH STUFF. And being a comic fan is probably a nightmare if you're a completionist.

Have you seen "Targets" yet? Because I'm betting they could at least heavily imply some stuff re: back-story for both characters. They're definitely setting up Artemis being the double agent, so you guys might not be far off the mark with that one! And cracky and fun RPs always seem like they're the best to plan out.

I might have just spent the past... hour or so plowing through the fic and that was freaking fantastic. I might have my first new ship since Amy/Rory. =DDDD.

Yeah really. It doesn't make sense until you're into comics and then suddenly you just get it. Suddenly it all makes sense.

Saw it on Cartoon Network while it was still on their site. They certainly do seem to be hinting at a Roy/Jade angle in that episode anyway what with the banter and the panty flashing. I'm confident that she's not truly a mole now at least, which is nice to know. I like Artemis. :(

She's still working on the alternate ending I think. And if you go to her tumblr there area bunch of side drabbles and fic. It's amazing and just fantastic. I love it to distraction.
