So my "crazy" change of lifestyle (aka: diet) seems to be working
Last winter I worked out just as much as this winter and last year I put on weight
This year I'm taking it off
Since my last visit i have lost 5 lbs (down to 179) and dropped 1% body fat (~ 2 lbs)
I've removed almost all grains from my diet with the exception of oats, barley, rice and corn.
Now, I am supposed to remove corn;
Corn = Mexican Food
'Nough said
;)
I've also removed most refined sugars from my diet
I choose raw/unpasteurized or low-pasteurized dairy products
And I keep around almost no refined foods at all
My daily goal is to drink a gallon of water
Thought it tends to be more like 3/4 of a gallon
I do my best to make sure that I have a "raw" day at least once a month
Better if I can do it once a week!
I do what I can to make sure what I put into my body are foods that will nourish and heal
Many have laughed at my lifestyle change
Called it quackery and foolish
Ya know, sometimes I agree with 'em!!
Still, results don't lie
I've lost weight
Most importantly, I've lost ~body fat~
Then I've got my overall health
I cannot remember the last time I was truly ill
Not counting allergy attacks
Otherwise, results do not lie
As for my physical well-being, I'm feeling quite strong
My back and hip pain have become manageable through acupuncture and chiropractic work
As well was pilates, yoga and just learning how to stand up straight
The stronger I become the less pain I have and the longer I have in between necessary appointments
Mentally things could be better
While I'm pleased with my overall performance this year
I cannot say that I approve of my competitive standings
Or rather lack there of...
However, the important thing is was that i enjoyed myself this summer
I enjoyed moving and being physical
That, in itself, is a first for me
So that realization pleases me greatly
As for my competitive ideals,
I hope to do a few more races next year
Particularly in the spring and early-summer
Before it bets to be blistering hot
I intend to start biking more again
Not exactly sure where to fit it in during my week, though
Swimming, once it warms up some, is no problem
I've been pondering pricing out how much a swimmer's iPod would cost
Though there are other items of workout gear i need first
Most importantly a new pair of running shoes
I'm really going to need a good pair if i hope to up my mileage from 2-3 miles to 4-6 miles!!
Second, a heart rate monitor
My current one works... barely
It's supposed to be water resistant
I went swimming with it once and its face became misty and difficult to read
Third, a new bathing suit
Otherwise... I'm good to go for next year's season
I'm looking forward to seeing what 2009 will bring to me
How my body change and heal and grow stronger
How I will face my insecurities, and over come them
Yes, I AM looking forward to 2009
