Summary: Jensen's exhausted, he's hungry, and now he's getting wet. But then he sees Jared... Rainy days + hugs + boys = love.
Notes: So, there's this absolutely adorable person I love. Let's call her
hd_obsession. And she writes completely adorable, schmoopy fic about these two boys who love each other. And not too long ago, she wrote this lovely little piece about said boys and free hugs. You should really read
Get Your Free Hugs Here! if you haven't. Because, as I said, it's adorable. Anyway, it inspired me and with her permission, I let it inspire the boys, too.
Jensen rushed across campus, head down, hoping to make it home before the skies opened up completely. Class had run late again and by the time he'd finally escaped the lecture hall, the sun was hidden behind a heavy curtain of dark clouds and a light mist had already started to fall.
Jensen was tired, he was hungry, and now he was getting wet. He hated being wet.
A delighted shriek pierced the air, followed immediately by a laugh more familiar to Jensen than his own.
"JARED PADALECKI, YOU PUT ME DOWN RIGHT NOW!"
Jensen glanced across the quad, movement outside the art building catching his eye. Of course, it just had to be his crazy boyfriend. His lips tilted up in a small smile as he watched Jared spin around in circles, Sandy's arms wrapped around his neck as she clung to him for dear life, her legs barely missing Chad and Sophia as they stood by wearing twin looks of amusement. Jared tossed his head back and laughed, wild and carefree, as a big boom of thunder echoed off of the buildings.
Jensen looked up at the dark sky and sighed before shifting his backpack on his shoulder and jogging across the damp grass. He came to a complete stop just before reaching the twirling pair. "Hey, you big oaf. Why don't you pick on someone your own size!"
Jared pitched forward, his large hands tightening their hold on Sandy's hips as her feet touched the ground, keeping her from falling. As soon as she was steady, Jared quickly stood back up. His eyes met Jensen's and he grinned, wide and bright, dimples flashing.
"JENSEN!" Jared bounced on his toes before pushing off and moving towards him, obviously eager to close the distance.
Jensen could only watch in wide-eyed horror as his boyfriend's foot slipped on the wet grass and he stumbled forward. Jensen's arms immediately reached out to grab him but Jared's forward momentum was too great, sending them both tumbling to the ground.
Jensen felt the air escape his lungs in a pained whoosh as Jared landed on top of him. He blinked, soft hazel eyes coming into focus above him.
"Whoops."
Jensen placed his hands flat on Jared's chest and pushed, trying to get him to lift up. "Whoops?"
Jared raised himself onto his elbows and gave Jensen a crooked grin, shrugging one shoulder. "Hi?"
Jensen just closed his eyes and shook his head. He felt Jared's thumb trace the edge of his jaw just before Jared's lips brushed his.
"I think I'm going to be sick."
Jensen's eyes popped open and he turned his head to look up at the other three.
Jared rolled his eyes in his friends' direction. "We weren't even doing anything."
"Not that." Sandy just shook her head as she placed a hand against her forehead. "From all the spinning," she clarified.
Sophia, who had been pretending to ignore Chad as he bitched and moaned about something or the other, shot Jared a wicked grin. "Trust us, you can keep right on doing what you were doing."
Chad made a face. "Oh hell no, I'm not standing here and watching you two suck face."
"Awww, but I was hoping you could give us some pointers," Jared shared an amused look with Jensen before he sat back on his heels and then up to his feet in one graceful move. He held his hand out to Jensen and pulled him to his feet. "You know, with your amazing technique, I figured I could learn something from you."
Sophia snorted. "What technique?" She tossed a sideways glance at Chad and scrunched up her nose. "If an octopus and a vaccuum had a baby, it would have more skills than you."
Chad glared at Sophia. "You're just-"
"Ooh! Hold that thought!"
Jared suddenly tore across the quad, nearly slipping once again on the wet grass. Jensen quirked an eyebrow and cocked his head to the side as Jared approached two students who were hastily making their way along the concrete path.
"What in the world is he doing?"
Another crash of thunder sounded and the world lit up around him but Jensen's focus remained on his boyfriend. His puzzlement grew as Jared tossed his arms around the young girl at first before turning and doing the same to the guy with her.
"Does he know them?"
Not that he'd be shocked if Jared did. Jared seemed to know just about everyone on campus. But still...something was off. Jensen tossed a confused look over his shoulder which Sandy met with a shrug. "You let him watch Youtube all night, didn't you?"
Jensen frowned. "He was bored and I had to study so I couldn't entertain him. What does Youtube have to do with anything?"
"It's my happy place!" Jared crowed, announcing his return. He bounced over to Sophia and wrapped his arms around her slim shoulders, tugging her close. He bent his head low and whispered something in her ear, causing her to laugh.
Jensen shared a look with Sandy as his mind raced. He rolled his eyes and shook his head in realization. "How many times did you watch that video?"
"Obviously enough." Sophia pulled back and swatted her hand against Jared's chest. She glanced up and the sky and frowned. "We should really go if we don't want to get-"
Her words were lost in the deep rumble of thunder. Before anything else could be said, the sky opened up, the gentle mist swiftly becoming a steady downpour.
Sophia closed her eyes and took a deep breath. "If we don't want to get wet."
"Who doesn't want to get wet?" Jared held his arms out to the side and stared up at the dark clouds above them. "Storms are awesome."
Jensen, who was still exhausted, still hungry, and still hated to get wet, couldn't tear his eyes away. He could feel the water as it made a path from the top of his head before dripping off the ends of his hair and down the back of his neck. The storm brought a breeze with it and Jensen shivered as the cool air brushed against his damp skin but he couldn't bring himself to move, his eyes trained on Jared.
Jared just stood there, face heavenward and eyes closed as the rain fell, tiny rivulets of water tracing paths across his skin before disappearing into his dark hair.
"You're insane."
Jared's head shot up and he grinned at Chad. "Like you didn't already know that." His grin grew bigger and he launched himself in Chad's direction.
He managed to sling one arm around Chad's shoulders before Chad tried to push him off. "Ugh, bitch, get off me."
Jared just pulled Chad closer and ran his knuckles across Chad's scalp. "You love me."
"Whatever," Chad grumbled, finally escaping Jared's grasp.
Something caught Jared's attention and he was off like a shot, a quick shout that he'd be right back tossed over his shoulder.
The four of them simply stood there and watched him go, a look of fond amusement on their faces as the heavens poured down on them.
"Like I said," Chad muttered as Jared accosted a group of students exiting the building after their class had ended, convincing more than half of them to consent to a hug. "Certifiable."
Jensen glanced over at Chad and grinned. "Yet here we are, standing in the rain, just watching him."
"He's got a point," Sophia laughed. She reached over and grabbed Sandy's hand, tugging her in the direction of their sorority house. "I'm soaked now and I have to get ready for a hot date tonight. Come on, Sandy, let's get out of here."
Sandy waved at Jensen over her shoulder. "Tell Jared we'll see him tomorrow. He owes me lunch for this," she yelled, gesturing to her wet clothes.
"I'm just gonna-" Chad shrugged before turning and taking off after the two retreating figures. "Hey, guys, wait up!"
Jensen just shook his head, smiling as he watched Jared approach. "No more Youtube for you," he said when Jared was within earshot.
Jared gave him a sheepish grin. "But it's my happy place."
Jensen watched as Jared drew nearer. Jared's dark hair framed his face, rain dripping off the curling ends onto broad shoulders. His thin t-shirt, once navy, was nearly black, the soaked material clinging to his chest. But Jensen's attention was drawn to Jared's eyes, the hazel shining gold as his lips tilted upwards in a soft, intimate smile. Jensen felt his breath catch. A happy Jared was an intensely beautiful Jared.
"Don't worry, Jen," Jared said, wrapping his arms around Jensen's shoulders and tugging him forward, pulling him flush against his chest. "I saved all my best hugs for you."
Jensen shifted, burying his face in Jared's neck, the wet strands of Jared's hair tickling his nose. He let his hands settle at Jared's waist, pressing even closer, and closed his eyes for a brief moment. He felt safe there in the circle of Jared's arms. "What am I going to do with you?"
Jared pulled back and cupped Jensen's cheek in his hand, that soft smile still in place. He shrugged one shoulder. "I don't know. Love me? Hug me? Keep me forever?"
Jensen was still exhausted, still hungry, and now he was soaked to the bone, which was worse than simply being wet. But none of that mattered as Jared brushed his thumb across Jensen's cheekbone, the wrinkled texture strange against his damp skin. Jensen shivered and it had nothing to do with the dropping temperature.
Jensen leaned in, pressing their mouths together in a hungry kiss. He could taste the rain on Jared's skin, his lips cold like water. Jensen licked his way inside, determined to heat Jared up from the inside out.
They stood there for what felt like forever, content to trade lazy kisses in the rain, wrapped up in each other, not a care in the world.
Breathless, Jensen finally pulled back. He pressed his body in closer, rubbing his nose against the wet tendrils of hair curling below Jared's ear. His tongue darted out, tracing the shell of Jared's ear, making him shiver. Jared's arms tightened around Jensen's shoulders and Jensen grinned.
"You know, I think I just might."
