I saw the DC premiere of Ninja Assassin the other night (no plot spoilers to follow). My martial arts school participated in the pre-screening demo (complete with flying tanto!). Korean pop star, Rain, also stopped in for a ridiculous cameo ("Hi! I'm Rain. I'm famous in Asia. This is my movie. I hope you like it. Bye.") The audience swooned. Then we were treated to nearly 2 hours of gory and flashy martial arts that had little to do with Japan. And apparently English is the universal first language. And I'm sure that no one in Berlin actually drinks Pepsi Light (can you even buy Pepsi products in Germany?). I don't even know anyone in the US that drinks Pepsi Light! But hey, I was just there for the fight choreography. For that the film's worth watching. You might consider a matinee, though.
