Smallville 7x06 - Lara

This episode started out on a good note for me. With the addition of Kara to the show there's more flying scenes in this seasons than all the 6 previous seasons put together. (although I can't help but to think that Smallville's special effects budget must go to the roof) I loved Kara floating around and day dreaming, only to get up and realize that there's a plane about two meters away.

I like the scenes with Kara and Lara, love the fact that it was Kara who came up with the name Kal-El. Another detail that I loved was the picture of a younger Martha and how Lara hid the picture of herself behind it. Helen Slater was a good Lara, she looked very etheral in the flashback scenes. As for the Zor-El/Lara drama... I wasn't too high on that. I guess I'm just tired of the "brothers or best friends torn apart because of a woman" thing.

I'm warming up to Jimmy/Kara, I thought it was sweet that Kara told Jimmy that she appreciated everything he did for her. Can't say that I've switched from Jimmy/Chloe, I'm still hoping those two will get back together when Chloe comes back to her senses but at least Jimmy/Kara is second best. I'm trying to avoid spoilers this season but I keep wondering that the writers want to do with Chloe. Either they hate her or they're trying to kick her while she's down on purpose. If it's the latter, they better turn it around and make it up to her by the end of the season.

The location/facade of Lana's secret Lex spying room is revealed. I think this Isis foundation is basically a cover up for it, I don't buy that Lana is that concerned about the meteor infected. It goes along with how she makes Chloe promise to not tell Clark about it, if she had established the foundation for the reasons she said then she would have nothing to hide. I'm kind of *gasp* liking the way Lana's character is written this season. She's acts all Stepford wife with Clark but she's probably more Luthor than Lex right now.

As for Clark in the end "This crystal contains my mother's DNA." ...wtf? The meaning of the scene was completely lost on me, I was thinking that Clark would suggest that they clone Lara or something.

Aside from the last part I feel that this episode (and Bizarro) has been the best and most evenly written episode so far. It didn't have stuff that happened in offscreenville, nor the bad writing of "Fierce".
