I am a bit tired for proper posts (partly for good reasons, too!) so have some gifs of a young Margaret Lockwood in The Beloved Vagabond (1936) with Maurice Chevalier. She was probably still 19 when they filmed it.
They made her audition really hard back in those days.
Being understandably reluctant to strip for Maurice Chevalier.
Learning to be a lady. (Not a wicked one yet.)
And then just being ridiculously adorable, really:
There was also an artistic boy that Maurice Chevalier kidnapped and Margaret Lockwood/Maurice Chevalier was a thoroughly dodgy end pairing BUT ridiculously cheery with everybody singing and dancing round 1900s France while Margaret Lockwood was, as above, seriously adorable. And I have now watched a Maurice Chevalier thing, so my store of cultural references has been widened.
