Some People Just Don't Get It!

So, I really feel I should comment on yesterday's chapel since I didn't... first off, major props to Clarissa who got up in front of all the high school and poured her love for God out through tears, go Clarissa! And, I've heard it said from a friend that the fact that people's lives were changed by this movie is stupid (and I quote) well, you see ( Read more... )

I'm already changed. I didn't need a movie to do that for me.

but what I'm saying is that watching your God be murdered innocently should change you and make you want to be a better person. It's not stupid that people actually have emotions and they allow themselves to be open to new perspectives and to let themselves be changed by the visual takes on the crucifixtion its one thing to read it, its another to see it. just like cancer doesnt really affect you that much until you watch your aunt die from it.

I never said it was stupid that people have emotions. If you read closely, I mentioned that I am the exact same way. I, too, am a victim of what I am addressing. I was only making a statement that it's unfortunate we had to see it to believe it.

I did feel conviction and I did become emotional when I watched the movie, but the mere fact that I had to (and many more of us) watch that movie to realize that is pretty sad on humanity's part. If that movie never came along, what would we have done? That's pretty much what I'm trying to say. I just don't feel right saying that I had to see a movie about Jesus Christ to be changed, instead of feeling it. It doesn't sit right with me saying that. This is for me personally, perhaps you feel differently, but I know I'm not the only one who feels this way because I have several close friends who agree on my opinion.

I didn't watch my God get crucified in the movie, I watched an actor pretend to get crucified. Yes, it's a symbol, but it's also a movie. There's lots of ways you could not be changed by this movie. I was not in the least bit changed by it. It was very moving, but it did not inspire me to go out and minister to children in Nigeria or anything. The most it did was remind me of what Jesus did. It saddens me that people needed this movie to change their lives when they've had the bible for all their lives to do the changing. There's something wrong when art changes people and the word that is God-breathed doesn't.

Flo, you did say it was stupid you said "I'm tired of these stupid life-changing testimonies" that was in your journal, those were your words. There's nothing wrong with not being changed by something, however you don't have to attack other because they were by calling them stupid ( ... )
