I hit 100ft today!  It's awesome, I've finally managed to get to 31m underwater and back again on a single breath.  I did it twice, just to be sure.  The first time I got massive leg cramps while at the very bottom, thankfully I was using a line, so I pulled myself to the srface with my arms.  After some stretching I tried again, this time ( Read more... )

I passed out today, I woke up when my head hit the ground, (technically it hit the ground three times, I had a hard time getting up).  I was "packing", where you pack your lungs really really full.  Unfortunately my low blood pressure means that this can cut off blood supply to my brain and bingo, I pass out (sometimes ( Read more... )

I have just recovered from a headache that lasted a total of 30 hours!!!  Returning from just 14m underwater I was suddenly struck down by a headache that actually felt like someone was driving a knife into my skull.  As it turns out it was sinus related, and I probably popped a blood vessel in a sinus somewhere.  So, that's me not diving for the ( Read more... )

I now have a myanmar stamp in my passport!  I had to take a trip over there to renew my thai visa for a month.  I don't suppose I've really been to Myanmar, but I did drink their national beer, so I suppose it counts.  Bacically you pay some money, they pick you up in a bus, take you through immigration (in extreme comfort), take you on a boat to ( Read more... )

Flown by myself. For all my travel this was only the third time in my life.
Had an alcoholic drink on an aeroplane.
Confronted Indira Gandhi airport alone, at midnight.
Faced Delhi traffic in a taxi which tried to scam me.
Stayed in a hotel room alone.

It has rained for over 24 hours now! Usually that wouldn't be so bad, hoewever on Koh Tao when it rains for a long time the frogs come out. I woke up wondering what the hell was going on, with this deafening noise infiltrating my bungalow. A quick check with a torch outside reveals the truth. I can hold my breath for over four minutes! That is the net result of three days of freediving training. I'm on Koh Tao, which a fantastic little island packed with dive schools and coral reefs. Lined with coconut trees, the beach stretches for a long way dotted with bars, resturants and sunbathers. I've decided that free-diving is the sport ( Read more... )

So judy is almost home, her flight gets in in a couple of hours. I'm feeling better than I did last night, I sort of moped around today, not quite sure what to do.
