So it turns out that, once the students got past the inital bit of their algebra that they remembered from before they started flunking, they actually needed quite a bit of my help. Fun times. So today I spent time helping explain algebra.
Let me impress upon you how momentous this is: In the eighth grade (this is not common knowledge; be careful how you use it) I actually failed algebra and had to take it again as a freshman. This is not as bad as it seems, since stupid Mt. View Jr. High put me in algebra without me having taken pre-algebra. Basically they ensured that I would sink in the class, and I still ended up on the same track if they had let me enter pre-algebra in the eighth grade instead. But all of that is beside the point.
The point is that I, the scarred math-phobic, taught math today.
