We went to look at a puppy in a foster home tonight. Spencer is a one year old Doxie Chihuahua mix Very cute with those little short legs. We want a small dog to hang out with stonebender sometimes and sit on his tray. Unfortunately Spencer didn't cotton to stonebender at all - actually refused to look at him even when he was placed on his tray. We tried treats - nothing worked. He was fine with me. We had to do a meet & greet with Pippin too. Pip tried to play with him, it looked like it was going to be okay and then Spencer went for him - serious teeth and attitude. Put poor Pippin in her place - for the remainder of the time Spencer was out our 65 lb dobie was leaning hard into me and shivering and looking into my eyes with a plea of "can't we go home now." Spencer is a big dog packed into a 15 lb body. There were 3 other dogs in the household and we watched him interact with them too and it was clear he was running the show. Not the pup for us.
There was another foster puppy, Keats, who was very sweet and got along fine with Pip. He's a miniature schnauzer, very cuddly, very happy to lay on stonebender's tray and give him kisses. There's another person who put in an application first and the will do a meet and greet on Saturday. We put our application in for him just in case the other people don't take him. Not getting our hopes up because he seems like a really great little guy - can't imagine they won't love him.
