Ok, so I left off at Day 7, August 22:
This was one of the days I was looking forward to most as I was going to get to see Tracy and Dave again! I didn't get a chance to see Tracy at Christmas and I didn't get to see her the summer before, so I was long overdue for a visit with her. It was a happy reunion, indeed! However, the weather could care less and decided to be kind of crappy. We discussed doing our usual road-trip through Prince Edward County, but upon reflection and discussion, decided to go to Presqu'ile Provincial Park instead. The weather held out for a while, as we walked along the mostly deserted beach, and along the marsh boardwalk (we saw a family of garter snakes - why is it I have no trouble holding a gigantic snake during the Reptile program at work, but garter snakes still give me the creeps?) It started to sprinkle a little during our walk, but luckily it didn't pour. We then headed to the famous lighthouse and were treated to some beautiful waves on the lake - and swans!
SWANS ARE AWESOME. THE END.
Anyways, it was really neat looking around outside the lighthouse and we went into the museum and got to learn about the famous shipwreck that occurred not far from Presqu'ile.
We stopped for ice cream on our drive back to Belleville and then swung by my place so I could say good-bye to Laura, who was heading back to Ottawa that night. (*tear*). The four of us (Kyle, Dave, Tracy and me) called Rob to see if he was up for doing anything, but sadly, he was busy, so we headed to Applebee's for dinner and then played a rousing game of outdoor mini golf and went to see Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. It was an AWESOME movie. Then I had to say a sad good-bye to Tracy and Dave, but at least I know this time I will likely see them sooner rather than later! Here is a picture of the Fab Four:
WE ARE AWESOME. THE END.
The next day, I was hoping to take Kyle to the Sandbanks, but Mother Nature seems to hate me, so of course it was pouring rain. Instead, we decided to go to the Quinte Mall to look around for a bit (The Bulk Barn was a hit), then stopped in to Super Pet. The rain eased up a bit, so Kyle and I went for a walk along the Riverside Trail. Then we headed back home to have some fish and chips with Mom, Dad and Gramma. Afterward, Kyle and I headed over to Rob's for a final night of tormenting Christy....I mean, playing video games, mostly Mario-related. Sadly, I did not get to see Josh and Charlene while I was back in Belleville, because they have something called a newborn baby and a two year old....meaning they are super busy! So I hope to get to see them at Christmas!
Next day was....the great Niagara Falls Adventure! I was excited as I hadn't been there in about 10 years and Kyle hadn't been there since he was a wee lad, and his only memory was that the Maid of the Mist made him cry because he got wet from the spray. Poor ickle Kyle...
I'm the Maid of the Mist, suckers. I make four year old Kyle cry! HA HA!
Anyways, Mom, Dad, Kyle and me got up early to take the bus to Niagara Falls (yes, this was a bus trip). I love bus trips, as they are always filled with corny but fun trivia games and little old ladies. Though, this time, the lack of little old ladies was sorely disappointing. But still...
We got to Niagara Falls around noon, and we had the whole afternoon to do whatever we wanted. It happened to be a bit of a windy day which meant that as soon as we walked closer to the Horseshoe Falls...WE GOT ABSOLUTELY DRENCHED. Which was actually kind of fun. After roaming around in the torrential spray for a while, Mom and Dad decided to go to the Butterfly Conservatory while Kyle and I checked out the Behind the Falls adventure. We had to put on rain coats to protect ourselves from the misty wrath of the falls, and wait in a very long line, but it was super cool to go in the caves behind the falls, and then get to stand right up close to them:
Debuting the fall fashion line in yellow transparent raincoats...
After our adventure, we walked back past the falls, got drenched again from the mist, and then stopped in to the Hershey Factory store, where I found myself in chocolate heaven. We met up with Mom and Dad again and got to go back to the store a second time! Score! Then, sadly, it was time to go home. We endured a long bus ride back that involved showing a very painful concert of some singer that old ladies love. Even though there wasn't a lot of old ladies on the trip....*sigh*
Later this weekend, I will conclude the saga!
I leave you with the image of the alien implants in my hair trying to escape....
