Time to talk about the second part of our journey, in Belleville!
Days 4-8 (August 19-23)
The first day in Belleville was a day to relax and visit with friends and family. Kyle and I went down to the library, so I could say hi to my old co-workers. I always enjoy seeing them again! We even got to briefly participate in the closing ceremony for the SRC there, which was also fun! Then we went home and went for a swim in the neighbors' pool (don't worry, we were invited!); It clouded over later in the day and we just made it home in time before the rain came! Then my grandmother visited and stayed for dinner. We had delicious Ontario corn on the cob...sooo delicious! Then, Kyle and I went down to the Bayshore Trail and Meyer's Pier for a walk. We saw swans in the distance, which was really cool. It was a great first day back in Belleville!
We awoke to great weather the next day, so we decided to take a trip "up north" to Bancroft. Dad, Mom, Laura, Kyle and me piled into the car and stopped at a country store and former school house-turned-tea room and restaurant for lunch:
I can almost see Anne Shirley standing outside....
Anyways, this place had excellent food and you had to write your order down on chalkboard slates, so that was pretty neat. I had the best mac and cheese I think I've ever tasted!
We browsed around in the little shop afterwards, lots of unique stuff to look at. Then we headed into the town of Bancroft to do a bit more shopping. It was here that I found a little catnip mouse that would later make Luna love me forever. Heh. After our excursion in this big booming metropolis, we headed back to Belleville for....Ribfest! Oh yes, Belleville has hosted Rib-fest for a few years now, and this was my first time to experience it. Kyle of course got as many piles of meat as he could handle, and I settled for a pulled-pork sandwich, which was super yummy. We saw my cousin Kim there and talked to her briefly, which was nice! Then, bellies full, Kyle and I headed over to Rob's place for some serious Mario Kart action. Oh, and Rob's cat? Still one of the most awesome cats I have ever met:
"My name is Buddy and I am awesome"
Don't worry, Rob's still pretty awesome too! :-D
I was very much looking forward to the next day, as it was Cottage Day! I hadn't been out to the cottage in years. My aunt and uncle now own it and have fixed it up a little. I was most looking forward to seeing my newest little cousin, Nicholas. He is so adorable! And Anita is getting so big (and smart!). Here I am with little Nicholas:
Behold, me holding a baby that ISN'T CRYING!!!
We had a great afternoon, Steve took Megan, Laura, Kyle, Anita and me out in the boat (I should have went to the bathroom before we left though. Aye.) Then it started to pour rain, so the rest of the afternoon was spent indoors. Megan, Laura, Kyle and I enjoyed a rousing game of Yahtzee. Laura kicked our butts, if I recall correctly. We enjoyed more delicious barbecued food (even after Steve dropped it all!) and then Kyle, Laura, Megan and I headed back to Teri and Steve's place for a bit. I got to cuddle with Nicholas again, heh. And Starsky the cat loved Kyle! Then it was time to call it a night once again.
To be continued!
