Wow. What a lot of amazing images.

Love that juxtaposition of River and Clara falling. What does it all MEAN.

I mean, I come away from it thinking that Clara is the key to everything.... but hey. :)

eta..... there's one thing in particular I'm thinking about today... and that is, that Clara is NOT a Time Lord. If she was, he would know. And who, pray tell, might NOT be a Time Lord? who would most definitely, all people in the universe, know his name? whispers: *the Doctor's Mother* shhhh..... o_O We all know Moffat's fascination with motherhood.... and the way the Woman RTD featured in the End of Time covers her eyes just makes me think things..... o_O

My current theory so far is that she is his daugher/granddaughter. Someone knows this, and blueprints have been taken of her and been put back and forward in time to lead the Doctor to the "real" version of her. And Clara will ultimately lead him to Trenzalore where one of them will answer. Someone has an interest in making this occur...i just don't know who ( ... )

I don't know who Clara is, although at least part of her fate is probably going to be pretty tragic (multiple lives, possible connection to River, possible connection to the TARDIS, how could it not be at least partly tragic, poor thing?), but I'm dying to find out. And part of me wants to comfort her about things she doesn't even know are going to happen to her. Weird, eh?

And this vid has been on repeat play for me over the past couple of weeks. I'd never heard of the band or the song before, but it, too, has been on constant mental replay.

*points to icon* Happy ending. And I can back it up:

'Because, just sentimentally, I like big victories. I don't like sacrificial lambs. I like the hero that brings everybody home, I think that's exciting, and I can't really be arsed with this feeling of 'Shame we didn't bring Trevor back with us as well...'. I like 'Aaah! Here comes Trevor - he's alive too!'. I like that! [...] Well, I'm saying this, but you haven't seen The Girl in the Fireplace... if there's a point to the bittersweet thing, fair enough - but I like big victories. And I like it when a film teases you with the possibility of a really dark ending [and ends up being the happiest thing evar] Doctor Who's on at 7 o'clock in the evening and it should be a bit like that. Also, it does buy you the right to be a bit darker earlier on.'

Oh, that's what I want, a great and glorious happy ending. Give me "Everybody lives!" every time; in fact, I'm first on the line to defend the dramatic validity of happy endings (which is also connected with my dislike of the philosophical/theosophical oversimplification of duality, but that's another rant) ... hell, I think the library ending is actually quite a victory in many ways ( ... )

Two things.

1. I think River might work in a similar function to how she did in the S5 finale. Very important, but not central. (OK, so she was at the heart of the TARDIS explosion, but you know what I mean - that one was all about the Doctor & Amy.) Mostly, her story won't be rewritten, and her ending won't change. (In the Library she knows his name, which means that the events that are going to happen have already been absorbed into her life.)

2. If it wasn't that Clara was going to be around for the next series, I could maybe buy a tragedy. (Like... the TARDIS actually dying and Clara being the new one.) But I don't know that Moffat would dare do that. I think it'll be dark (we've had a lot of darkness this season), but ultimately... this:

(It's not ghost story, it's a love story/Every lonely monster needs a companion ( ... )
