Summary of my night: I'm an Eagle, and I love cute dogs.

Yesirree. Today was pretty freaking terrific.

1. Chilled out, had work, and then came home and watched QL. While I was watching it, I was pretty engrossed, and then I hear, "Justin!", and it's my roommate, trying to get my attention so our RA could do a maintenance check. And inside I was like ":D".

2. Didn't get to finish QL before I had to leave for GLBTF, but that was okay, because we did U Zoo at the meeting and it was good times. I had one of the highest percentages for D, so I was a volunteer. My D group and I -- we were the nerds (Eagles). A's were the leaders (Lions), B's were the crazy extroverts (Porpoises), and C's were the easy-going, stable folks (Koalas). Anyway, all the different groups were told to plan a party. And we were like, "um, we're D's, we don't do parties D:". But we ended up going for nerd cred and had a book club party. ("Instead of BYO Booze, it's BYO Discussion Questions!") And then we all came back in and shared and everyone else had been told to watch for certain cues and react in certain ways to see what the volunteers would do, and we all pretty much acted as expected. B's presented first, C's were short and to the point. We presented last because we wanted to go in order, and we stood up against the wall while we waited. And we, of course, had the most logical, realistic party (lol, "food-to-person ratio". They laughed at us for using "ratio".). But anyway, it was really interesting. ETA: And hilarious (President Boren on a slip-n-slide, Cs? And I didn't tell my group member it was a good idea to read my GOW fic at our party; that was all her idea!). And PS, I'm Koala second. 35 Eagle and 31 Koala. Hooray accuracy.

3. Then I hung out and chatted with Kali and it was good times also.
4. After the meeting, as I was leaving, there was this guy with a dog standing on the sidewalk. So I walk over in his direction and kind of stick my hand in his dog's face and the dog is like "*leaps for joy onto Justin's arm*", so I took that as my cue that it was okay to pet. So I'm petting his dog, and to hell with passing or not, I let him know his dog is "really cute". He thanks me and I go to leave. I say bye, and the guy says to the dog, "Say bye, tell him bye". Full disclosure: that's a lightless area, so it was dark as all hell -- but STILL. I was freaking petting his adorable dog, something I've worried before might inhibit passing, and I still passed. It was awesome. I love life.

I hope everyone else's night rocked as much as mine. Off to watch the last three or so minutes of "Good Morning, Peoria" now.

ETA: Also, I friend-requested my RA today. Will let you know what comes from that.
Further ETA: I knew I was going to forget something. During the presentation, when the group member was talking about reading my fic at our GOW party, the pronouns got really awkward since we -- being Eagles -- had decided that doing the assignment well was more important than, say, knowing each other's names. She handled it well, though. When she brought up my story, I was standing next to her (so as to better see the paper with our notes on it), and she looks at me, pauses where a pronoun would go, and then puts an arm around my shoulders and gestures and starts the sentence with "...wrote a fanfiction". Kali noticed the awkward, too, and I'm sure she was hardly the only one, but I thought it was handled gracefully, and at least it makes an amusing story.
