Period started this morning. Hello, blood, crippling cramps, and ONCE MORE SCIENTIFIC PROOF OF PMS. I DELIBERATELY do not keep track of when my period is due ever since I heard that scientists doubt that PMS is an objective condition, and now every month, when I start randomly bitching and hating everything and then start my period three days later like clockwork, I am all, "In your FACE, scientists."
Screamed by me yesterday while alone in the car:
"What the FUCK is everyone's PROBLEM today? What the FUCK makes you think it is OKAY to drive TWENTY GODDAMN MILES AN HOUR in the LEFT LANE in a FIFTY MILE AN HOUR ZONE? *to CD player* AND YOU, KICK IT UP A NOTCH, I PUT IN BLACK REBEL MOTORCYCLE CLUB, NOT FOUNTAINS OF FUCKING WAYNE!"
Gynecological scientists should meet me. In full body armor.
Got two new scents in the mail yesterday!
Xiuhtecuhtli = pure, sweet, soft white floral with a VERY gentle but pervasive and palpable orange sweetness to it, like orange sherbet. If citrus is strong Southern womanhood, and Moxie is Scarlett O'Hara, Xiuhtecuhtli is Melanie Wilkes. I get no incense, no smoke, no spice, and only the mildest, sweetest, smoothest possible resin. It's utterly different from what I expected, but oddly lovely. Possibly wonky menstrual hormones are screwing up my skin chemistry and blocking the incense notes; I'll try it again in a couple of weeks and see, but it's okay if it just stays like this. I shall dub it Sweetness & Light and wear it in according moods.
Tarot: The Sun = aieeee! Everything I ever hoped, which is bad. Oy. Heliotrope, rich amber resin, spice, citrus... oh man, and I had pretty much talked myself out of needing a bottle of this. It's just like the drydown of Ra-- Ra minus the nasty wet green herbal stage-- only stronger and brighter and... oh crap. *frantically juggles upcoming order*
I did just pick up a tutoring job and have a prospect for another, so there's that.
Also, the magnanimous and beneficent
barilosopher is going to be nice enough to make a run to Alternate Realities to see if they have any of the TAL oils I want, and if they have Horus, and if Horus is all it's cracked up to be, I won't also need The Sun. And if Horus isn't all it's cracked up to be, I can make my money back and more selling it on eBay and get The Sun instead.
I also got a skein of the most incredibly gorgeous hand-dyed (in Nepal, natch) textured silk yarn. One time in Asheville I saw a hat made out of a yarn like this, and I almost got it, but it had all these tacky little beads on it and I was all, meh. But now I'm going to make a hat out of this yarn, and it will be joy. Joy! Now to find a pattern for a hat that isn't a head-hugging skullcap.
I have to go eat a lot of things and clutch a heating pad to my belly. And put on some Sun.
